I've had many dogs of various breed in my 63 years but none compare to the spirit of my recently acquired adult Pomeranian. If you are a dog lover and are looking for a fine "best friend" I would say this breed best fits that description, also highly intelligent, alert and responsive to their master.

These little dogs are mistaken for "yippy" or "unfriendly" much like chihuahuas but it's quite the opposite. My 3yr old pom is my best friend. He's loyal and well behaved. Very responsive. Friendly to everyone. Overall, they have a great temperament. Just be sure to give them lots of attention since they are so playful and active.

Pomeranians have many great qualites. When I moved into my apartment I wanted a dog that would be happy in 800 sq. ft. as well. I researched and found Poms are the best apartment dwelling dogs. They have extremely sweet temperments and love everyone. They are extraordinarily intelligent. I have watched mine stop and think and reason things out before she moves. They have alot of energy and love to play and go for walks. They are small enough to take everywhere and they are ultra cute. If you're not a fan of all the hair, I kept my first pom's hair trimmed very short always. She would get mopey when it started growing out. They are independent to a certain extent, but are very loyal and loving. You can't do better than a Pom. If you're still looking, I found my 1st girl at a rescue when she was 7 and my new girl at the pound when she was only 8 weeks old. You don't have to pay astronomical prices to get a wonderful Pom.
