Bergamasco Sheepdog Question and Answer

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site.

What is the average price of a female?
Post Response
can you keep you their coats short?
Yes. But be careful to cut their hair too short because their skin is very sensitive and prone to rashes and scabbing. Because of their natural thick coat their skin is usually protected from harm so when cutting make sure to be EXTRA careful to not get to close to the skin. Also make sure they do NOT get external parasites (fleas, tick, etc) because scratching and biting irritates their skin and causes them to scab. When their coat is long is nearly impossible for blood sucking parasites to get to their skin because of the thick oily protective 1st layer coat (except for places like the inside of ears or near nose) And last but not least be aware you will be asked what kind of poodle mix your dog is.

What is the average price for a male Bergamasco?
$2000
Post Response
Would they do well in So California or is it too hot for them?
Don't really need to trim the hair. The flocks are split to the skin, so they get some air conditioning naturally.
If you trim down the hair, then they do fine.
