i have a 3 month old blood hound pure breed and just curios its says the eyes are dark his are like a blue grey? also what should an average 3 month old weigh he weighs 16-17 pounds but to me looks skinny is this normal?

I have a 12 week bloodhound puppy who weighs 22 lbs..I was also wondering if he is too small-to look at him looks ok. Are you exercising your puppy-take mine on 1.75 mile walk each day and was wondering if too much?

Above this question was asked. (help me with the hound smell. what secrets can you give? I do the regular grooming but the odor wont go away. I have tried the doggy deodorants but they really dont help.)
And was aswered
(good old fashioned pure vanilla extract! It works, I have used it on my dogs matress's for years, they have their own childrens beds. Any way just sprinkle a few drops on a carpet, or wash an item down them apply vanilla liberaly! It works trust me!)
Could you tell me if this means to use the vanilla extract on the dog also and also let me know for sure that it is not harmful to my Bloodhound Copper me and my fmily love him so much dont want to do anything to harm him but would to get rid of the bad smell

I have a 3 month old male bloodhound and he drools ALOT!! when we took him to the petstore we were told he was quite young to be drooling this much is that true?

Do Bloodhounds like water of any kind? Swimming, bathing etc.

My bloodhound loves the water! We take her to a lake every summer and she can't get enough!

My bloodhound doesn't like to swim much. But she doesn't compalin when I giver her a bath

I have a ten month old bloodhound named Dixe. I purchased her from a reputable breeder and she is AKC registered. I love this dog and she is responsive to me, though, as I researched before getting her, she shows stubbornness. However, my fiance is a different story. Dixie will not listen to her and, in fact, seems to regress when I am not around. She does whatever she pleases when only with my fiance, but when I come home, acts like an angel. It's bad enough to where she wants to get rid of the dog, though I won't let her. How can I get the dog to respect her the way the dog respects me?

I had the same problem with my bloodhound and my husband... We tried everything to get him to respond to my husband with out fail... finally I started the training all over again but with treats... even though he already knew everything we made it more of a game... I would tell him something but not give him a treat... then my husband give him a treat... then me and a treat and husband with no treat.. back and forth with lil things ...make him wonder who was going to give him the next treat... then started to take the treats away and just lots of love and belly rubs... it took a few weeks but now my bloodhound does anything and everything my husband says... even though he still listens to me better!!! At least now my husband is ok being home alone with him and not worring about him causing havic!

my bloodhound is almost 2 yrs old, and she is getting aggressive over nothing at all, and i am concerned about it. i don't know what to do about it, any ideas?

She might be an alpha female. Ours is like that. She dominates our male but has never shown aggression towards any humans. I try to deter ours by getting in front of her or distracting her.

I have a 10 month old son and we are considering getting a bloodhound puppy. How are they around small children? Are females generally better with children or does the sex of the dog matter?

I have a two year old male bloodhound named Lincoln, we got him when my daughter was about 19 months and I was pregnant with my third child. He was always sweet and gentle with our daughter who was anything but gentle and when the new baby came nothing changed. I think males are better though, I have heard of a lot more alpha female issues than I have male. But even as a puppy a bloodhound is big and very clumsy, small children are easily and usaully unknowingly knocked over.

I'm considering getting a bloodhound, but need to know if anyone has problems with excessive barking. I know dogs bark and I can tolerate some, but constant barking isn't going to work.

no ours is not a barking but he does talk alot. He is the most talkitive dog I have ever had.

when should i start serious training with my blood hound? he is 5 months and he is a bad boy. He jumps and bites when we aren't messing around

you should have started training as early as 6 weeks! You need to understand that now it will be harder to train your dog but it still can be done. You just have to be consistent and don't forget to used puppy treats! They work wonders. Or just use turkey breast lunch meat....that always does the trick.

how much would a five to six month bloodhound need to eat??

Do bloodhounds like to swim?

becareful mine will jump in our pool if I am not watching

yes- the one I have loves to swim - just like a lab

Has anyone ever seen a bloodhound english bulldog mix? I just got a puppy from my neighbor. Just curious to see what she will look like full grown.

Yes, We have a 1yr old bloodhound english bulldog mix. She is about 80lbs with a wrinkled face and a bulldog body. She is just the cutest thing we have ever seen. Also she loves to swim.

can anyone help me with the hound smell. what secrets can you give? I do the regular grooming but the odor wont go away. I have tried the doggy deodorants but they really dont help.

Try good old fashioned pure vanilla extract! It works, I have used it on my dogs matress's for years, they have their own childrens beds. Any way just sprinkle a few drops on a carpet, or wash an item down them apply vanilla liberaly! It works trust me!

I have a litter of bloodhounds 12 reds I think? Someone just told me that my pups with pink noses are liver and the ones with the black noses are the red ones? I'm getting confued? Can anyone tell me any thing about the colors?

I have a fully registered male Liver and Tan with excellent bloodlines who just so happens to have a "Liver nose" not pink, but not black either. I have read the AKC standard over and over and no where does it mention a required nose color. I was lead to believe that a red was just that with the dark muzzle and then there was a liver and tan in which case the muzzle matched the "liver" color. I have never heard of a solid Liver colored bloodhound. Take a look back at the AKC/Eukanuba National Champion of 2005, Knotty, he does not appear to have a black nose to me.

unsure on the red or liver but pink nose dogs are pet quality only and should not be allowed to breed. If registered dogs please sell all on limited registration.

How much does a 6 month female bloodhound typically weigh? I think mine is underweight?

I have a 6 mo male. He weighs 55 lbs. He seems like he's stopped growing but I'm with him everyday so it's hard to tell

A full grown female weighs typically 80-90 pounds. I would imagine a 6 month old female would weigh around 60-70. If you think your dog is underweight talk to your veternarian and if you don't have a vet you shouldn't have a dog....
