I have a 2 year old boxer. His name is quite fitting. I just have a few problems with him. He wont stop jumping on every one all the time. i have tried turning my back on him and telling him down and walking away but he will lunge on you. I dont know how to stop his behavior. He doesnt know any commands yet and Im afraid he is to old to train. He is very sweet but very stubborn and I am ready to call it quits with him. My grandkids are deathly afraid of him because he always knocks them down or scrathes them while trying to box. I need help

I have a boxer as well and they are never to old to train. I wouldn't suggest kneeing a dog in the chest ever. when he jumps turn your body directly away from him with no eye contact. If verbal contact is made use a one word command like OFF. try to avoid using down as that is usually the command for the lye down position. When he stops, reward him with a treat or a Good boy. This will take a while but it is a lot less evasive. Boxers are very hyper active and require you to BE consistant, and don't give up to fast. Enroll in training classes, you will be surpised at how well your boxer will do, while getting him out with other dogs.

I had a similiar problem with my German Shepherd. When the dog comes up to jump on you GENTLY knee him in the chest then call him again and again eventually he will stop jumping. It really does work and it does not hurt him. after a few tries myGSD stopped. I also trained her to run up to me and sit and ONLY then did I pet her. Hope this helps.

I have a 4 year old fawn female boxer. She recently started freaking out when u touch her back. She doesnt itch it much but I can tell there is an allergy problem maybe. I dont believe its mange no redness or hair loss. Any suggestions?

i have a two year old boxer and i discovered that he has an allergy to any dog food with corn in it. he starts losing hair and having a horrible runny nose. he now eats one of the higher quality foods (BLUE) because it has no corn. he has been on it for about 3 months and what a big difference it has made. his hair is back and very shiny now and no more runny nose.

My husband and I just got a 2 1/2 (almost 3 year old) boxer. She is a little shy. Her previous owner said she takes up with women a little better than men. She seemed nervous or unsettled when we got her home. Will she ever take up with us? How should we approach her to make her more comfortable? We got her dog treats and food. She didn't want any of it.

My female boxer was 3 months old when we got her and she was very scared of all men and some women. We went to a trainer and asked what we should do to help her with her fear. she said just take it slow and try to not treat her or baby her when she is showing those scared actions. she seemed to warm up to me within 3 weeks and after about 14 months she came around to my hubby. We let her come to us, we never pushed her. If she is scared of one or both of you try sitting down on the floor with a peice of block cheese(dime size) and with no eye contact, let her come to you. don't touch her, just let her touch, sniff and look at you. next time let her come to you and offer her a slow pet and a soft good girl. keep doing it and let her sit down and slowly she will come around. don't give to much cheese, change it up once in a while or just sit there and talk softly to her don't raise your voice because it seems to get a scared responce and it will take even longer. It took longer for my hubby because he was gone for weeks at a time and wasn't around very often. the more time spent with her, the faster she will learn to trust you and know you are not going to hurt her. Good luck, I have 3 boxers and they are the most amazing dogs i have ever had. i have 5 kids and our second boxer was the scared one and she is amazing with our kids and she protects the kids first if ever someone where to come on to the farm. our kids were 7, 4 and 2 when we got our female reeses and 2 kids came after we got her and she is just so patient and watchfull over them. good luck

I was wondering why my 1 year old boxer has not gone into heat yet? Is it normal for her to not have her season in her first year?

I have an 11 month old male boxer and he keeps chewing on his bottom. I have tried Lanacaid cream, sprays and 'head and shoulders.' Any suggestions?

Your dog could be suffering from food allergies. I also had this issue with one of my dogs. Best remedy was to go to a raw diet. No bum licking and a whole host of other benefits, i.e. better breath, better teeth, less shedding, flea resistent (after 6 months on the diet). Look into it. One of the best suggestions I ever had and I will never go back to commercial dog food again.

If he's chewing on his bottom he might need to have his anal glands squeezed. You should talk to your vet.

Have litter of boxer pups and one is white with blue eyes. Is this normal or could this pup have a problem? I know white not unusual but with the blue eyes?

I have owned a white Boxer and many people do. Some have blue eyes and some brown. My understanding is the AKC does not accept this color in the breed and some euthanised. Too sad as my white boxer was one of the best dogs I have ever owned. Find a good home for this puppy.

I have nine week old female boxer and I am concerned that if I leave her in the back, will she fall in the pool? At what age can they swim?

There is not a certain age in which they can swim. It is mostly instinct for them. The best thing to do would be to put the dog in some sort of water to get them used to the idea and let them learn how to swim for themselves.

I was wondering if the boxer had a specific breed that it likes to play with around the house or when you are at the park with it?

Our boxer loves all other dogs but his very best friend is a sweet female pitbull. They are about the same size and love to play. They are hilarious together. He is about 18 months old and although he is very mellow and well-behaved he csn be really wound up when he is playing. He even tries to get our cat to play with him. He tones it down for her because she is little-so he bites her ears and tail very softly.

What seems to be the average time for the testicles to drop in this breed. I have a 8wk. old that three vets are saying one is in the abdomen and chances it will are slim. He was sold with full breeding rights. However from what my vet is saying he should never be bred and the breeding pair should not be bred again. We have vet one saying 7-8-months old then fix
vet two 5 month old then fix
vet three (the breeders vet) saying 4 months old if not down schedule
Any advice you can offer would be great! Thanks in Advance!

Is my boxer overweight or just a larger breed?
We have 2 male boxers, one is 2 years old and weighs 98lb the other is 2 years 9 mo. and weighs 70lb. The larger is one quite muscular but we are concerned he is getting fat! Still runs fast and keeps up with the other one but has a harder time with jumping over things, occ. needs 2 leaps for over the stone wall he used to take in one. His back end has gotten quite large.

We have a male boxer, Tyson, that is 3 years old. I just would like to know is he the only boxer that sheds his fur throught out the year? If not, what can i do to stop it from happening?

I have a 6 year old boxer and he has always shed hair year round. We live in the midwest with all the different climates and I have not noticed him shedding more or less anytime of the year.

Has anyone had any luck with any specific product with contact allergies in your boxer? We have found out that she is allergic to wheat, we have her on a very strict diet of herring. She is great in the morning after a night of sleeping and not itching!! Help!

Purina sells a dog food specific for wheat allergies, it is lamb and rice, check with local feed dealers or call your local purina dealer to find a local dealer. I had a boxer who was very allergic to wheat and within 2 weeks of the new food his hair was coming back in and no more itching for the first time in 7 years.

Are boxer dogs the most sensitive dogs?

Should i see the ribs and spine on a female boxer?

I have a 2 year old male and he is skinny. I have tried feedin him more and he is slowly getting bigger. The vet said this can be normal. Maybe just keep an eye on any loss of weight.

Boxers get their full height at 2 years and their full weight at 4 years. My male 6 year old Boxer is 95 pounds and he is not overweight for his size.

Our 21 month old female, Laila, is very lean and sometimes you can see her ribs a bit. Not her spine though. I sometimes wonder if she's undernourished because she doesn't have that square build you see on a lot of Boxers. But on her last visit to the vet she was 62.8 pounds. And she has no eating problems, so I figure that's just the way she's built. Plus I've read that Boxers don't completely fill out until they are around 2 years old.

How much and how often should a boxer eat?

I have a one year old female boxer and I was wondering what other breed of dog are good with boxers? We are looking to add another dog to our family. We are definitely looking for a male though.

Boston terriers and boxers go very well together!

Our boxer pups are 2 weeks old. When can I introduce the male boxer (father) back into the family to join the female and puppies.

You shouldn't introduce the father back into the family until the puppies are about 10 weeks old. I do not know if the mother is still there or how many you have or if you are planning to sell them. You should only introduce the puppies back into the litter if you are planning on keeping the ones you introduce him to. The males can get very protective over the puppies if not carefully watched.

How can I remove ticks from my boxers and make them ticks free? I used some medications but they were not effective.

Use a pair of tweezers to grasp the tick as close as possible to the dogs skin. Make sure you grabed the whole tick as parts of the mouth left behind can cause an infection. Wash the wound and dab it with some antibiotic ointment.

How much exercise does a fully grown boxer need?

I have a female Brindle boxer. She is really thin, and she eats a lot of grass. is this normal?

I agree with the second answer. I check with our vet on the same issue for our vet and he told us to start checking the first 4 ingredients in our dog food to make sure it was any by-product meal or alot of grains.

my female does the sme thing she is nearly 2 aand goes through stages of been thin and ribby to filing out. so i gve her some canned food she likes and over 3 months added mix but i had to try a few dry foods wit her.
dog eat grass as naturl medicne

your boxer might not be getting all the nutrition it needs, so she will start eating grass to make up for the lack of nutrients

I would have a fecal check done at the vet's. Rounds, Whips, and some other intestional parasites' eggs will show up on a fecal float. Tapeworms, however, will not and do compete with a dog for nutrition. If the float doesn't show anythingl, I'd treat for tapes and for fleas (that's where dogs get them from) to break the cycle of reinfection. Advantix or Frontline are fine. You must treat all the animals in the house and yard, cats included.

Are all boxers german boxers?

boxers originate from Germany but there is a slight diffrence in boxers who are bred in the US, UK, and of course Germany

my friend has a 4 yr old boxer and every now and again his hind legs give way what would cause this???

you know I heard a story about that.. watch him because they are notorius for getting spinal problems because they are so happy and bounce around so much. He may have put damage may be catching up.

Is bringing a boxer a bad idea to bring on the beach? What happens when sand gets in their already droopy eyes?

I took my boxer up to the shower station and rinsed him off a couple times. If there is not a shower station then take a bottle of water. Just rinse his/her eyes a few times. Taking a boxer to the beach is soooooooo fun. Just make sure they don't drink too much salt water or eat too much sand and make sure you give them plenty of water after playing at the beach. We took our boxer to the beach, he was the life of the party. Everyone LOVED him and he had soooo much fun running and spinning and jumping in the sand. He even followed me out in the ocean. Fun! Fun!!

I usually bring a bottle to water to pour over my Boxer's face. She has a great time at the beach. I don't see a problem with bringing any dog to the beach. Just be prepared with water for drinking and rinsing off. I always bring a clean wash cloth to wipe off her face also.
Go have fun!

I have taken my boxer on the beach many times and have not had a problem yet.. but i'm no expert

Can boxers eat rib bones?

The best thing to do is to not give the dog bones that will splinter in its mouth

my boxer is 6 months old & she always has mucus in her eyes what causes this?

Boxers are prone to allergies.. my boxer is allergic to grass.. his vet prescribed smallest dose of human benadryl as needed.. really gives relief fast..

when is the best time to breed a female boxer?

Automatically assuming the 2nd heat is not wise, especially if she is on a 6 month cycle as she will only be one year old and still very much a puppy herself. A boxer bitch should be mature before having a litter; At least 2 years of age or more.

on the 2nd heat

I have a 6 month old boxer female that I got from some one that couldn't take of her. I've had her for 2 weeks and she just won't gain any weight and she is losing weight also. I've taking her to the vet and had test ran on her but they didn't do any blood work on her. Is their anything that I can give her to help her gain weight?

Have you checked her for worms? Worms make them lose weight.

hi I have a boxer roughly 16 months. Early on( First couple of months) she looked almost starved however she was eating. some times she would be a fussey at eating however to get around this i used to put sardines in with the dry dog food the ones in Oil are best as it is good for the coat.
You could also try Lambs Lives boiled
Also boiled/cooked chicken with rice. It is bland and easy on the stomach.

When I got a Boxer puppy a lot of people said that boxers are a dumb breed. Is this true? But he's actually quite smart, he was easily housebroken and can also open doors and windows. So are Boxers supposed to be smart or is my Boxer just weird?

Boxers are extremely smart! I housebroke my boxer when she was just 7 weeks old and she had only 2 accidents since then in the house. Whoever told you that they are not smart obviously doesn't know the breed very well and if they did own a boxer they didn't pay attention to them.

Boxer dogs are very smart. Do the research on the breed you will find out a lot more information. Whoever told you they were dumb obviously are ignorant of the breed.

ive owned many different breeds...all intelligent...rotts, american staffordshire... but by far the 1 year old female boxer i have is the smartest dog, most clever dog, and most human dog ive ever encountered.....i intend to breed her and always have a boxer in my home for the rest of my life. i love these dogs.

boxers are very smart...my samba was very cunning , i think their puppie like playfulness is mistaken for stupidity

My boxer is 8 and I took her for a walk yesterday, nothing strenuous, just an easy pace. We got home and she layed down. When she got up to walk, she did a face plant and had trouble walking. She is still the same today. Help please???????????

Your boxer could have had a mild stroke. This is very common in boxers and affects motor skills like walking. You should take her to the vet immediately.

Your boxer may have DM.

Our 12 year old female boxer started with the same symptoms. The vet did blood work and prescribed meds for her thyroid. It made a huge improvement. However, her meds were reduced after a month and she started having seisures.

We rescued a 10 month old female boxer. We have had her for 2 mo. and she is still peeing in the house and chewing on EVERYTHING. She ruined my couch, blinds, an expensive rug and lots more. We never experienced this with our 8 yr. old male. We need help!

Get a crate that is big enough for her to move around put it by the door. When you get up in the morning take her out and then take her out every hour after that for a couple days and then slack back to every couple hours giving her some kind of treat when she goes to the bathroom like milkybones, a steak bite, or something like that. It shouldnt take more than a couple of days to break her of the habit. She should be letting you know either by barking, walking around the house sniffing for a spot, or going to the door. Just got to watch her and she will let you know!! Good luck!!

Are you crate training her? This could help tremendously; keep to a regular schedule of eliminating, regular food & water, and crating overnight & for periods of time during the day.

I have a 9 month old Labrador and my husband loves boxers one of my neighbors is giving a boxer puppy away, but i was wondering if they would get along good. The lab is a male and if we do get a boxer it would also be a male.

A boxer usually doesn't do good with a same sex dog in the house, but since you are bringing the boxer in last it shouldn't be a big problem. As long as you remain the alfa in the house then everything should go smoothly.

Is your lab neutered? With any breed 2 male dogs will have issues. It is a dominance thing, but if you train them and let them know who is the dominant one in the household they should keep the fighting to a minimun, but it will happen. Neutering one or even both will greatly reduce that issue

my 8 month old female boxer has become aggresive with my 2 yr old male boxer, she was fine when I got her 2 months ago. Is this a sign that she is gettiing her first heat cycle? What else can be causing this. My male does not do anything to her other than pass by her and she starts barking at him or a quick snarl? any advive or suggestions

I have a male boxer, one years old, and would like to get him a companion. What would be a good breed other than another boxer that he would be able to get along with well? Worried two boxers might be too much energy in the house.

We have a boston terrier who is 11 years old and a one year old boxer. both females! They absolutely love each other. Its funny cause my BT will come and take toys from my boxer and try and eat her food. It is really the cutest thing. I like to think of bostons as the mini boxer.

I have owned dogs all my life.. every breed.. big dog lover.. but Boxers are #1.. smart with wonderful dispositions.. its all up to the owners.. they need love and attention..

I have a four year old female and an American Bulldog. They get along great, but I think a boxer will do well with any dog that can match it's energy level. You don't wanna get a couch potato dog and have a boxer. The boxer will just annoy the other dog. lol

We have a french bulldog that does very well with an older boxer (they are one year apart).
They play when needed but when they get tired, they actually take their breaks.
I think the boxer would get along with almost any dog, take him to a dog park and see how he gets along with others.

Is there any truth that boxers that have companions who die are the most saddest breed of dogs that take it the hardest? More than any other breed besides dalmations? Im asking this because a friend of mine told me this. I personally think all dogs would be sad but he said those breeds are more sad than other breeds.

Any dog that lives with it's owner for a number of years would be natually sad, they get over it. If a dog is given a loving home with lots of love and excercise they soon get through that sad part of their life regardless of them being a Boxer or any other breed.

We are looking into getting a boxer. The thing is that his tail has not been cut and he is about 6 - 8 months old. Does his tail have to be cut? At what age is to old to get his tail cut?

he is to old to have his tail docked, that should be done when the dogs ar e no more than 5 days old. As for cropping the ears he is also too old for that.

Yes, it is too late to have the tail docked. It maybe too late to have the ears cropped as well. You should ask your vet on the ears. Docking and Cropping play more of role of health and safety rather than cosmetic, even though owners are inclined to do so because it makes their dog "look" picture-perfect. Boxers excessively wag their tail and often with such force it can be painful to those (especially vases and glassware) standing behind it. Ear cropping can prevent excessive wax build-up and irritation by allowing the ear to "breath" as opposed to a Boxer with floppy ears. Personally, I have a boxer that is docked, but uncropped, however I take the time to clean the ears at least twice a week. Hope this helps! Keep Boxers strong and loving!

He is too old to get his tail cut and anyway here in Europe it is against the law to do so. Boxer are still Boxers with or without their tails and if you can give one a good home you shouldn't bother that his tail hasn't been cut, he'll love you just the same so please don't look for a vet that will do it.

I have a 5 month old female boxer and I gave her a rawhide flat chew and she started chocking. I could not get her to hold still and get her mouth open to get it out. My husband opened her mouth and got ahold of the chew but she had stopped breathing.I was scared to death that she was going to die! He pulled the chew out and all of the sudden she lifted her head and looked at us as if nothing happened. Is it typical for a boxer to swallow chews?

You are never suppose to give puppies a raw hide no matter what the breed. They make special chews for dogs who are a little older for them to chew on that will not strip and cause them to choke. They have long bones that still have a little meat on them that are very good for this.

My boxer swallowed a rope when he was about 12 weeks. If it wasn't for the knot on the end, I would not have been able to get it out. He would have choked.

I have a 3 yr old female we rescued. What a great dog! This breed is awesome. 2 days ago she started carrying around a stuffed toy, licking it laying with it, licking it & whimpering. Is she coming into heat? She's not eating and is not herself. The day it started she did go to the vet for a shot and heart worm blood draw which was negative....
But what is all the motherly type of behavior?

You really should decide as to whether to get her castrated or not, if you do not and just leave her as she is then you could get this behaivour occur each time she's about to come into season.
She is the one that is suffering and thinks she is pregnant ( false pregnancy ) please seriously consider to get her castrated if you don't want to breed from her or you could end up facing expensive vetenary bills for womb/stomach problems later in life.

i just got a 7 week old boxer..and ive been doing some research on weather to cropp his ears or not...i am still not sure what to do...i want to but then im debating on it...any help?

Please dont do it! You will be able to see your boxers personality through the ears. I can tell when she is happy, sad, or when someone comes to the door. Its all in the ears! I love them

I did not crop my 6 year old "Tiger" ears and it's the best move I made. He looks so much friendly and people love the ears. I wouldn't do it.

Not sure how old this post is but please do not do it, Boxers are so much nicer and more acceptable to people with their ears the way they are supposed to be, uncut.
As the last comment says they really are adorable with floppy ears, this practice is now banned in the UK and Germany.

don't do it. more & more boxer owners are leaning towards avoiding this surgery as it is painful and intense. plus, boxers look adorable with floppy ears!

i have a 9 month old female brindle boxer, the thing is people keep making comments that she is a pit. her head is not like a normal boxer nose isn't short help please

I have a boxer and a pitbul and they are both fantastic dogs. Pitbuls are NOT people agressive although they can be dog aggressive (part of their genes)... and i have 3 cats. It's how you raise them. There are just as many boxer attacks as their are pitbull attacks. You just dont hear about them. The media wants to paint this horrible picture of a wonderful breed because gang members and drug addicts use pits in the wrong way. Do your research before putting down such a loyal loving breed.

We had the same problem. Our boxer is CKC registered so we know she isn't a mixed dog. Her nose is a little longer than most boxers, but I like her better this way. When people ask just say no she is a boxer. My husband feels safer because from a distance people think she is a pit, so no one walks up to.

I had the same problem not too long ago. We got the cutest Boxer (well I thought) from a breeder. She was brindle with white markings. The older she got the longer her nose got. Over a few weeks she started looking more like a pit. Come to find out she was Boxer/Pit. She started becoming very aggressive to my 3 yr old. So we had to get rid of her. This dog would go for my sons face and any where she could get too.We could not take the chance.......not with our children. If you still have this dog please be careful! I will never own a Pit!

My 9 month old boxer sheds alot i live in Abq N.M. dry climate you recomended brushing regularly and a feed that supports this problem can you recomend a brand of food. PS. this breed of dog ROCKS.

Try a furminator. I highly recommend this brush. It is a little pricey but I went from sweeping the floors everyday to sweeping only once a week. It removes all the under hair that causes shedding. On boxers, it works really well, but my friend had a rott and after she used my furminator we had a plastic bag full of hair that never came off with a brush. It also makes the coat shiny. I LOVE IT!

try ''oven-baked'' natural & holistic / has omega 3-6 and glucosesamine . // fish recipe //

HELP - recently my 2 yr old male oxer started vomiting, and has become more dominant and aggresive to the female we have. Does not want to eat his fooed either - any suggestions?

My boxer just had her puppies this morning. She drinks water, but we have to take it to her. We brought her food to her, but doesn't want to eat. Should I give her time? And what should I be giving her.

Yes just give her time. Start feeding her puppy food again. It has the proper nutrients for the puppies while they drink her milk.

I have a 3yr old male boxer that needs to be inches away from my face and attention 24-7 why and what can i do

what are symptons for epilepsy on 1 yr.old female boxer?

Do all boxers have gas problems?? Mine can fart and clear a room!!

You can do something about this for your dog, try some different dry food, I was lucky, by the time I tried the third diffent food I found that my Boxer almost never has gas problems.

We found that by giving them a better dog food they tended to fart less & have fewer stools.

both of my boxers have gas i think that it is just a boxer thing mine do it and then look around as if to say who did that!!!

my two year old boxer girl loves to sit on our old golden's head shen we first got her he was the only one that would play with her. Is this a usual behaior or just a boxer thing?

My boxer is 3. she is small and I cage her when going out. She hates her cage and will tear up anything I put in it.......a bed or blanket. She will even sometimes dig thru the bottom fllor of the cage. She goes in willingly but when I leave must go crazy. How can I get her to be calm in her cage? She has been caged since a pup.

Start by leaving her in the cage where she can see you. Only for about 5 minutes at a time. Make sure you leave her cage open also where she can go in if she wants to. Also put treats in there so she will have something to look forward to when goes in her crate. Eventually you can make the time in her a crate a little longer but make sure she can still see you. Then slowly go out of sight for just a minute or two to start with. Keep doing this until you have built up to about 10 minutes out of sight when your dog doesn't go crazy. It will take time but eventually you will get there. The same thing happened with my dog and now she is WONDERFUL!

I personally find this cage thing cruel and there is no need to do it to dogs if they are trained properly..leave the house for short periods of time, even if you stand outside the entrance door for a few moments so the dog doesnt see you. Do not greet the dog on your return. Extend these short periods over the weeks for longer periods and within a short time your dog will learn to stay in the house/appartment on it's own without causing any problems to the furniture etc.

My boxer sheds alot is this a seasonal thing.

Most dogs, apart from Poodles and a few other breeds moult and shed hair once or twice a year, you should brush regularly and give a feed that supports loss of hair during this time, my Boxer is currently shedding hair but it helps greatly when I brush him in the garden, gently but firmly...plus they really enjoy it.

my 2 yr old male boxer has always slept in our bed or on the sofa in our bedroom. now he refuses, either sleeping on his bed in a sunroom or on the sofa in my den.when he is in my room now he seems afraid and only lays on the floor. any thoughts?

I just got a three month old boxer and noticed that the backs of her hind legs above the knee are hairless but only along the back bone and up the inner thigh. Is this normal?

Could it possibly be mange mites? I just went through this with my 9 month old boxer. Worth checking into.

I have a 5 month old male boxer who is awesome!. I have decided to keep his ears natural. However, his ears are inbetween half standing up and half way laying over. My question is WHEN do they usually relax and lay flat ?? (at what age)

Start playing with his ears, it breaks down the cartilage. Kinda like when your not suppose to play with their ears when they get docked. Me and Rusty (my 3yr old puppy) sit on the couch and watch a movie while I play with his ears and their cute and floppy.

My 8 week old boxer seems to have Puppy A.D.D while eating. I feed him 4 times a day, but all 4 may equal 1 actual bowl as he seems to take a few bites and then find something better to do. I keep bringing him back to his food bowl but the same thing happens. I have switched foods, and am pretty positive it is not a matter of him not liking the food. Any suggestions?

I would try adding something to the food, not neccesarily switching it but add something like a "vita-gravy" to the food to make it more appealing, he may get bored of it after a little bit of eating it because its the same dry taste bite after bite. what kind of food do you feed him? You could go with something that has a four or three protein ingedients. He also may not be food motivated that could be why he's not taking to it, you could just leave his bowl there for the day and he may eat the food throughout the day instead of all at once.

1 yr and 9 month old boxer keeps destroying my plants. I walk him 3 times a week and take him to the dogpark on weekends. he is well trainedand well behaved other than that. what can I do or why is he doing that?

The first thing I would say is that he is bored..walking him three times a week!! did you mean three times a day? They have lots of energy.
Take him on longer walks and wear him out, take a ball or a stick and allow him to excercise so that he is too tired when you get home. My dog will sleep for hours if I allowed him too but all my dogs get taken out 5 times a day, every day( whether they like it or not ) in all kinds of weather. Give this little tip a try and if it doesnt work get a spray bottle, the small plastic bottle you usually spray water onto plants or reptiles and spray him before he reaches the plant not while hes doing the damage.

Will putting my 8 week old boxer in an excercise pen in the kitchen while i am at work ruin and potty training progress that has been made with the crate? He hates his crate during the day, even though I do come home at lunch.

it seems to me that you are doing the right things with your boxer by coming home and playing with him for 45 minutes and your roomate taking him out as well. Boxers are very clean and will not "dirty" the place they sleep in, however, if you put him in a large enough den where he can relieve himself and still have plenty of space for him to sleep in is not a good idea.

I have an 8 week old male boxer. I work from 8:30-5:30 during the week, have been leaving him in the crate, but I do come home at lunch to take out, feed, and play for 45 minutes. I also have a roommate who is home most days to take him out and play for a few hours while I am gone. He seems to cry almost the entire time I am gone, so I am thinking about getting a pen for him to play in instead of his crate. But, I am worried that him being able to use the bathroom in the pen in the kitchen will completely ruin any potty training progress. Any advice or suggestions?

Has anyone ever heard of a black boxer? I honestly do not believe in black boxers(with or w/o white markings), but someone told me that they do exist and that they are really rare to come by. Any ideas?

There certainly are what apprears to be "black" Boxers around although they are not truly black in the sense of the word, on closer inspection they are a mixer of dark browns from the brindle variety. Although I'm sure there are plenty of sites for you to check out I obtained my boxer Hooch from this organisation almost two years ago and never looked back, check out www.boxernothilfe.de a German organisation which re-houses Boxers, on their homepage you can see what appears to be black boxers.

A pure bread boxer does not carry the gene required to produce a pure black coat.

Do boxers have a good memory, going to visit my son who moved in November, will his dog (my favorite dog) remember me????

oh yes!!! My boxer remember my husband after he was in Iraq for a year. He left when she was just 10 weeks old and came home when she was over a year. She jumped all over his when he walked in the door. I have never seen her so happy.

Yes, Boxers have a good memory. My girl only gets to see her 'grandma and grandpa' every 6 months or so. It's an explosion of happiness whenever my parents come to visit, she also expects, and looks for, the toy grandma always has for her.

My boxer seems really sad and dosen't have energy to do anything. We have taken her o the vets and she has had a blood test but nothing has come up yet. I was woundering if we need to spend more time with her because she might be getting lonely and depressed. Is this possible?

Absolutely Boxer can and do get depressed! Nothing can look more pathetic then the droopy eyes of a sad Boxer. You are to be commended for checking with your Vet. first before asking here!
Boxers are people dogs they love being around people especially there master and his/her immediate family. Do yourself and Boxer a favor devote as much time with them through out the day as you can and when you are in for the night play with them, inside or out, brush them or just give them unexpected hugs and kisses. tell them how good, they are. Instead of that open the back door and let them out put a leash on them take them for a walk then surprise them with a healthy treat when you get back in. I promise your Boxer will feel much better and you less stressed making it easier for you and the dog to sleep better.
I raise, breed and train boxers over 25 years for Search & Rescue and have # 4 of my own. So please trust me on this.

Our boxer has developed what looks like black mold on his stomach and black skin patches. Any advice

I agree it is most likely pigmentation I am willing to wager you have a Fawn Boxer with some white markings and the black you see along the edge of the white where it sttarts to turn to fawn. mostly on her chest and underside. Its not allergies its simple ageing. Boxers dont have thick coats that is why you can see these pigment changes in the summer if it is very warm and you spend much time outside you might see more "pink skin" on her chest ,chiin and underside this is a very harmless form of sun burn watch it do not let it weep or turn dark or bright red then you have a serious sun burn and a Vet. trip will be advised Be aware BOXER ARE MORE PRONE TO CANCER, THEN ANY OTHER BREED OF DOG!

I just took my maltese to the vet for something that sounds exactly like what you describe. She said ticks had given her an infectiion and she's on antibiotics now.

My poodle developed the same thing and I asked the vet she said that it was just the pigmentation. Kind of like wnat they call pregnancy mask in women. Mine was related to her allergies. Nothing to worry about just kind of ugly.

My 6 year old boxer has lost her bottom front teeth. Is this normal? She was not ill or in pain or not eating. We just happened to be playing with her and noticed her teeth were gone in the front bottom. What is wrong with her?

If the teeth are truly missing chances are 1. The Boxer lacks a vitamin or mineral and could be Calcium Deficient. Advise Go to vet for lab work, before they loose more teeth.
2. Boxer may have a severe case of plaque build up with Gingivitis. Again take to Vet. for a good cleaning and antibiotics. 3. Lastly the Boxer could have receding gums if this is the problem extensive cleaning and dental work might be necessary this can get expensive try a pet health insurance to help defray the cost this way you will be re reimbursed 70 to 80 percent of the cost. I use Pets Best Insurance on all my 4 boxers. They are great to work with!

Boxers gums grow over the teeth. My boxer is 9 and the vet was very surprised that it had not happened to her by this age. M

9 week old boxer puppy looks to be too skinny but we feed him as directed by Purina Pro Plan. What would a good weight be for him at this age?

My puppy at 12 weeks was around 20 pounds. She was 30 pounds at 4 months and now 54 pounds at 6.5 months.
I agree that your puppy should get a better food.

Stop feeding him Purina or any of the other junk dog foods, even science diet is bad. Buy wellness instead or solid gold. Read the labels and avoid foods that contain grains and meat by-products. Dogs cannot digest grains and by-products are the crap of the animal (brains, tendon and such)

why does my boxer's eyes always look bloodshot?

Could be allergies, some boxer lines are prone to allergies, could be from dust, smoking, dirt particles, pollens, food or even carpet in your home. Ask your vet about giving your boxer an antihistamine.

Hi I am looking at a possibility of getting a boxer. I would be able to take it for a walk in the morning and another one in the evening but I am a little bit confused as during the day it has to stay alone from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon. What do you suggest?

I have a little boy and leave him for that time. I run him in the fields in the morning and at night. On a wednesday i pay for someone to come and walk him in the afternoon. Just because it breaks up the week. Then at weekends we go for countryside walks and i ensure i spend all the spare time i have with him. He is perfectly happy and is often fast asleep when i arrive home!
I also set up a treasure hunt before leaving for work! He loves that game.

Can you or someone else let her out at lunch? Crate training would also be a good idea. I have a two year old Boxer and I work 8-5 and as long as she is let at lunch everyday and I have never had any problems

have you ever heard of a green eyed boxer?

boxers dont usually have green eyes unless have been the second or third generation of a mixed breed unexpectedly inpregnated

my female boxer scratches constantly and has leather like patches all over any treatment ideas apart from steroids?

Not sure how old this post is but our boxer had the same thing. The technical term is Season Flank Alopecia (?). It happens most in the fall when the days are shorter, it is a lack of sunlight. We were told to give her Melatonin (3mg twice a day) it cleared right up and now we giver her one a day to keep it gone. It doesn't have any side effects, even though it is a human sleeping aid. Good luck!

my boxer has just given birth 2days ago and is not eating. She is just drinking loads of water. Is this normal?

no that isnt normal she needs to have nutriton to nurse the puppies she should be taken to the vet asap

How well do boxers adapt to being home alone during the days?

Any dog can adapt to being alone at home. The crate or kennel can greatly help in this. Make sure you are properly training them for the kennel and not just throwing them in there and walking out.

i have a 7mnt old boxer and lately his eyes have been really red and droopy with a little bit or clear discharge, i brought him to the vet and they said its normal, but i dont see how it can be normal when clearly his eyes are brothering him! does anyone else have this problem?? should i get a second opinon?

This is normal for boxers. Because of the way their faces/skull is formed, the tear ducts tend to be easily irritated, and this causes goop to come from the eyes. Also, droopy eyes can be normal for boxers as well, because their upper lips tend to droop on the sides and pull the face down.
my boxer's eyes have been gooping since i got him, and every boxer i've met since has also had the same problem.
So really, it's not a problem, it's just part of the breed... kind of like some dogs have problems with excess drooling.

You should definatly get that checked again by someone else. My 2 mnth old male had the same problem and the vet gave me this jell that i put in his eyes, and they have cleared up and he is doing fine.

My boxer is about 4 months now and she has the same problem. You can't really tell if it bothers her but, they've told me it natural.

Does anyone know what the back length measurements (base of neck to tail) would be for a 2 month old male boxer? Trying to fit some winter cloths for a new arrival! 8" to12", or 14" to 18"? Thanks for any help.

My Female Boxer is 8 going on 9 years old, I moved into a larger house and I don't want her getting Lonely. I was thinking of getting a Boxer Puppy, but should I get another Female or get a Male. I'm partial to Female's but I can go either to Make my Boxer happy.

You as the owner should know as to whether she gets on with both sexes...if she is a little jealous with other females more so than she is with males then go for a male. Good luck.

We had the exact situation. We own a female who at the time was 7 when we inherited our male who was 2 when we got him. We found him to be much more stubborn and crazy then our female ever was. He is obviously much bigger. He just took a little more patience and time to train. Great dog, great temperment, and goofy as ever. He also added a few more years to our old female by just having a companion!

I have a 2 year old white female box and a 3 year old female Bichon and they are the best of friends. My 5 year old son wants another female boxer. Is this a smart thing to do with two adults dogs? they are good girls im just scared?

My female boxer is almost 8 months old and I beleive she is about to go into heat. We do not want to breed her until atleast her second heat, but we also have a 5 month old male boxer. Will he be able to actually get her pregnant? Or is he too young?

The last post is possibly correct when a dog has it's second heat it is far too young to breed from so please wait...you could see you vet and put the dog on the pill and there is a spray which is supposed to masks the sent, which you spray onto the back end of the female but you should always keep the dogs seperate anyway as this spray isnt 100% succesful.

they dont recommend you breed your boxer female until she reaches full maturity which is about 2 and a half years old. hope this helps

I have a 16 month old female and looking to get a 16 month old male both boxers how should I intoduce them?

I am 7months pregnant and own a white female boxer who just made 1y. I have had her since she was six weeks old. How can I train my boxer to prepare for the new baby without keeping her locked up all the time? Or misbehaving towards the new baby. Or misbehaving period?

After researching a lot of breeds, I really want a Boxer. We currently have a 7 year old non-dominant female Golden Retriever. Does anyone have an opinion on whether bringing a young Boxer in would work or not? I was told by a rescue group that they would not allow adoption of a female Boxer into a home with another female dog because of fighting issues.

Find another rescue center...any good rescue center would only be too happy to have one of their dogs rehoused and to say that two females would end up fighting is rubbish, of course it could happen in any situation but doesnt have too, depends on how good the dogs are socialised.
I've owned two female dogs for the past ten years and the only thing you should be aware of is dominance from one of the females.

we have a 17 year old golden and adopted an 8 month old female boxer she seemed to take at least 10 years off of the old man's life since golden's are so laid back it should work well

I had a female boxer then was given a chocolate lab a year later even though there was 1 year age difference this was a very bad situation. They started fighting a couple times and just about killed each other. I had to give the lab away. The boxer would start it but the lab would usually get the best of her. I do no recommend two females together.

Is it natural for a female boxer to drop weight rapidly after giving birth?

I am considering getting a Boxer pup. I live on a lake in central New York and definately want a dog that enjoys the water. I was told that the Boxer really doesn't like the water. Is that true?

No it's not true, Boxers simply love the water, I should know. I took my dog to the coast and let him fre from the leash, he ran into the sea and I thought that I had lost him, he swam so far out, he really enjoyed himself. Of course the salty sea water didnt do his stomach any good but once he threw up and he got it out of his system he was fine so go ahead and get your Boxer and have fun with him, best of luck.

I have 2 boxers and they do love to play around in the water, they only go in up to their chests. I would not recomend swimming unless closely supervised. They are not good swimmers, actually mine both sink while splashing frantically.

Our boxer loves to WADE in the shoreline water, but will not swim. But then, he's solid muscle, so we figure he doesn't necessarily float so well. Like a rock. But still, he's super-playful on the shore, if that helps.

My boxer absolutely hates any kind of water unless he's licking it out of a bowl. He hates the bathtub or petwash. When getting him anywhere near the lake he will put on the breaks and it's sheer torture and anxiety to him even to coax him to the water. Even with the aid of some very friendly labs and other "waterdogs" playing frisbee and ball would not get him into the water. He even hates going over bridges where he's not in the water, but over the water where he can see the water below. I think it's just him as I have seen other boxers do fine in pools but haven't seen boxers in lakes much. My boxer is 3 1/2 now, but I have tried since he was a pup to get him over his anxiety of water. Good luck

i have only 27 days old boxer dog.Idont know how to feed in this small age. Please sugest me how to feed mt small dog

get a bottle and some special milk for dogs and just feed it but make sure the milk is warm and feed it every hour

Is this breed OK being left alone for 8 hrs if exercised? I'm a teacher and gone from 7am-4pm?

My boxer was a rescue from a family who's 10 year old son abused my girl. I was nervous about her being around not just babies, but children of all ages. Turn out that she not only loves children still, but is very mindful of her size in relation to children. She can pull me around the house, no problem, when we play tug-o-war, but is very careful and gently when playing with my friend's 3 year old. Obviously, take care with baby in your arms as boxers do love to jump and LOVE to be a part of everything you do, but I think if you got a puppy before the baby was born, and took him/her to obedience classes, you should have no problem when the baby arrives, since the dog will know commands and you can correct any behavior that might be a little too rough around the baby.

I have a 3 1/2 year old boxer who is and will be for some time in a kennel during the day for 8+ hours. He gets plenty of excercise and while coaxing him out of the comforts of the "human bed" before we leave for work is a chore, I know he sleeps 90% of the time he is in the kennel during the day. I would highly recommend not keeping toys in the kennel with the boxer as they will tend to chew it up. Even the blanket I have in the bottom of the kennel has been ripped to shreads until my boxer gets it just the way he wants.

yes.. i have 2 boxers and i leave both in my house while i'm at work for 8+ hrs. if you get a young boxer, you will want to crate it first because it will chew up everything if left alone for an extended period of time.

I have a 10 yr old daughter and a baby on the way. My wife thinks a boxer is to big and to rough for a newborn. Is this breed OK?

We got a boxer pup when our son was 6 weeks old. So we had an 8 week old puppy and a 6 week old son. They are now both 1 and are the best of friends. My husband jokes that we are going to get another puppy when we have another baby! She lets him lay on her and pull at her. Wonderful!

I have seen boxers with all ages of children. They seem to have an awareness of their size in relation to the size of the child and seem to hold normal traits such as excitement and jumping up on people when they are around kids. They like to be in the action, whatever that may be, but I have seen boxers with babies who are only months old that, after introduced will just sit quitely with the baby. They are also great with kids when they can interact and play with them more as the kids get older.

You need to be careful around any dog of any size with an infant. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get a dog, you need to be mindful. Never leave a baby / child unattended with a dog no matter how close they are. Check with a dog trainer (or two) to discuss when the appropriate time to introduce a dog to the family would be (my guess would be after the little one is born). I have two boxers who are just the best, but even so, I am watchful when they are around any kids. They rough house alot and you need to be in control of them so they don't knock over the kids. Training is a must!

The boxer is the only breed I would trust with an infant (of course you never want to completely trust any dog with an infant). Boxers seem to be very aware of their size in relation to small children.
My boxer Katie has been the most gentle dog I have ever known. Be sure to train your boxer well (an extremely easy task) & you will never regret the decision to add a boxer to your family.
I would recomend a female & be sure to include her in everything you do. She will thrive on it. Mine would forego food for affection any day of the week.

If the mother Boxer has red mange can the puppies catch it? I was told that the male puppies couldnt and for the females you could get them fixed and it would be ok after that.....

how old is to old to cut the ears on a boxer?

Any time after 12-14 weeks is too long. If you wait longer than this the cartilage in the ear has already formed and the ear will most likely fold over. I would recommend cropping the ears at 8-10 weeks.

What tempature is too cold for a boxer?

Boxers are tough, but they have thin skin and short hair. If it's cold for you, chances are they are cold too. If winters are harsh where you live, I would suggest getting a jacket for your boxer and perhaps some shoes/booties for the snow. Your dog may not like to wear the jacket and boots at first, but starting him/her with wearing them for a few minutes a couple times a day around the house, and with positive reinforcement, they will get used to it, and you will be able to increase the time they will wear it.

I also live in Idaho and with the snow right now my 12 week old boxer loves to run around and jump in it. Usually after about 15min though she is ready to come back in. We got her a sweater and with that she we stay out a little longer sometimes. The first time it snowed she didn't want to go outside but it just takes a little getting used to.

**My family and as my father grew up, all in Idaho, owned boxers. You would really need to be sensitive and thoughtful to the weather conditions all year round. Every night and most days in the winter (and potentially at any other time), the dogs would pal around inside. We had nearly an acre of lawn and we'd let them out in the winter for a spell during the day to play in the snow. Their breed personalities are at full swing. They LOVED that!! Often times with a sweater for them 'even at their size.' But once (like people) the shivers set in or they look at you with those big brown eyes, it's time to go back in side to play with a family member and wind down a bit.
Our family therapy was our beloved boxer pets! Ours happened to be very frightened of lightning and Idaho wind storms, so those were other occasions to consider. You'll learn to be in tune with the outdoors in a new way, just don't drop the ball. Other Idaho owners have let their boxers die mistakenly in a (cold) unattached garage, etc.

Boxers can get used to many diffferent climates, if you expose them to many different ones as a pup they won't be as scared or dislike the climate when they are older.

60 degrees -50 degrees

MY BOXER MAY BE PREAGNANT SHOULD GIVE HER SPECIAL CARE IM NEW WITH THIS

Don't give her any shots or dewormer. Start feeding her a high quality puppy food the last couple of weeks of her pregnancy. Consult your vet and calculate her delivery date and make your vet aware of the approx. date in case there is an emergency with deliver. Good Luck!

Just watch her diet and dont put her in cold climates. i wouldnt deworm her or give her any medication without asking your vet first.

Me and my partner are desperate for a boxer, its the only dog we have ever wanted and would love one!!! the only thing that stops us is the fact it would be left at home for about 5 hours, 4 days a week. would this be a big problem and should it prevent us from getting one?
If so what other dog could be recomended.

I have three boxers and first i was keeping them on my back porch but then my 1 year old decided to eat part of my hot tub. so now i have a big out door kennel in my back yard and it has a tarp over it to keep out rain and wind. they will lay in it for hours. just make sure they can't find a way to dig out of it [ i know from experience that it can be devestating to your grass:)].

We have two boxers right now and we are currently looking into getting another. We also had two other female boxers who saddly passed away and are hugely missed. One died of old age and the other, we think may have gotten into something toxic, we are suspecting anti freeze. It has been our experience that it is best to crate young boxers while you are away from the house. They are very high energy dogs and hate to be away from their people and tend to tear up the house and furniture when left alone. As a rule, they are ok to stay in the crate for one hour/one month of age. As our boxers matured they became more secure and better behaved in the house and were no longer required to stay in the kennel or crate. But we usually would leave it available to them with the door open so they could use it as a safe and quiet place to sleep, that they used on their own.

Boxers do tend to get rowdy if left alone but if you exercise the dog well then he will probably fall asleep while you are away. Also introduce the dog early to chew toys it will help him/her relax.

our boxer has a tumor in his mouth, on his gum, it has to be surgically removed, i was wandering if this is common in boxers.

According to my vet, whom I trust, and my own experience with two of my boxers, the answer is 'yes, fairly common', and very easy to treat with minor surgery. Be aware, however, that the condition will most likely return. Even so, you should have it seen to early and as many times as your trusted vet deems necessary and safe; early surgery is brief and recovery quick, but left untreated too long, the condition is painful, interferes with eating and can lead to more serious problems or tougher surgery since bone may invade the growth.

I am fostering a 1 year old boxer, she is very well behaved but I do know she was left abandoned for a little while, and she is somewhat bony I can see her ribs and her spine poke through her fur, is this common in young boxers? When do females fill out? Ive been feeding her puppy food to get some meat on her bones but am wondering if I should switch to feeding her wet and dry food, she doesnt like the puppy food. What should I do?

I have a male boxer who was pretty skinny until he reached four - people still say that he looks skinny as you can see his ribs, but my vet has advised that this is how a healthy male (or female) should look. Before my boxer put on weight when he was four, you were able to see his spine and, sometimes, his hips. I broght him to the vet regularly and the vet was not very concerned. As long as you see a vet regularly, and there are no underlying health conditions, I think your dog should be fine. Some people are a bit skinny sometimes also! My liil guy didn't seem to like to eat as much as other dogs and was not treat motivated (he still is not) so to encourage him to eat I would by gravy to pour on his food or occasionally put bacon or bacon grease into his food. This was just done occasionally and is VERY fattening so I wouldn't recommend it for a dog that is of normal weight or overweight. It sounds like you can try this if you dog is not eating her meals.
My boxer is perfectly healthy though, and has filled out so only his ribs show a little and the vet says he looks great. Many dogs are overweight these days. My boxer loves to run and then, after running fast and hard has an increased appetite - I suggest encouraging your boxer to have daily runs - off the leash in a big fenced in baseball or soccer field is great (at night when no one is around is my favorite time to do this- just be sure to pick up afterwards). Have you let her play with other boxers? try exercise to increase her appetite.
good luck and dont worry about it if the vet finds her to be healthy.

You can still see my three year old female's ribs. Seeing the spine isn't good. Because they are naturally so lean, I was told to stand them up and if you can see a little belly, then they are okay. I took mine off of puppy food at one year. I'm big believer in just trying several different feeds to see which one they respond well to. Luckilly mine loves cheap dog food. Have you tried worming her?

I have a neutered male boxer and I was curious to know if it would be wise to get a puppy that is also a male, what do you think?

It's generally a good rule of thumb to get a dog of the opposite sex for your dog, reguardless of breed. There's always going to be a pecking order, but most problems stem from the instict to be Alpha of their sex within the pack. Male-male and female-female companions are prone to fight for this alpha position. Female-male have a better chance of co-existing because they will not be fighting for the same position in your family pack.

yes i agree. i own a boxer named Honey and i brought home a bloodhound puppy yesterday that is a female. i thought it was best because neither are fixed yet. but Honey didn't know how to react to the new dog. she just started drowling and backing away from the new dog when she would want to play.

it's usually best to get the opposite breed. but if you're interested in getting the same breed, make sure you introduce them in a neutral area before buying the puppy to make sure they get along.

Are getting a boxers ears croped still in the norm?? I had a boxer as a kid and we had her ears croped but I notice alot of boxer owners are not doing this anymore.

Boxers have a 90 % chance of not coming out of the anistisia! A LOT of puppies die from this procedure!!!!

After about 35yrs. I find that it is either or and my 13yr olds never had a problem with their cropped ears. Now any ear you must keep cleaned and protected from injury. It is my opinion as a breeder of quality boxers of good health and longevity, that ears cropped/uncroppped is just a matter of preference. If done correctly ears and tails normally have no pain past the initial healing.

we cut our show boxers ears as a kid also but now it not the norm most think it mean and IT DOES HURT the tape and cupping takes weeks to make them stand if you dont show dont cut.

well it puts the boxer through a life time of pain and i won't ever allow my dogs to go through that ever..

My boxer's ear are cropped, but I would never put another animal through that again!

i have a boxer pup and we are not cutting the ears, none of the other pups had their ears cut either, and nor the parents.

I was told by the SPCA that breeding with my 5 year old boxer female is too old. Is that correct?

I would not suggest breeding her. In my opinion I feel that only certain oustanding dogs should be bred. But if you adament of breeding make sure you talk to a vet to get all the facts. This is not like human birth you have to take care of four or five pups and loss of sleep. Read up on it.

yes it is correct you do not want to do that because there is a 90/100 chance that she will die if u breed her

You should only beed your boxer if its a show boxer, once it has recieved a Champion title it is only then worthy for breeding.

I had a 6 year old boxer deliver a litter of 6 very big and healthy puppies. She had 2 litters after that. The 2nd litter: 1 stillborn and 5 smaller puppies. 3 time: only 4 puppies and a hard delivery. I have a 3 year old had 7 pups last friday and right now 1 week later I have 2 living and and I had to bottle feed the litter since they were 2 days old.

breeding boxers is harder then you think. many have a hard time delivering. you need to find a male thats not to big for your female complications from c section are common and bottle feeding a litter isnot easy evey 2-3 hours around the clock 2 weeksis alot of workleaveit to breeders

They only tell you that because that's how they get lots of puppies in there. breeding

Any breeding should be well planned. Vet checks should be done, exrays on hips, etc should all be considered to breed healthy dogs. Also, consider that there are alot of dogs in this world euthanized every day, do we really need more?

no it's just dapends on wether or not she is healthy

We are thinking of getting a friend for our 2 1/2 year old female non-dominant boxer. What breeds, other than Boxer, would typically get along with a boxer's unique personality?

I had a wonderful male boxer for 10 years until his recent passing. He endured moving, 4 children, horses, goats and loved every other dog he came across. His best friend was a tiny 5 lb rat terrier that my husband bougt me when my boxer was 7 years. There was no jealously only lots of fun. The boxer seemed to forget that he was old and that he wasn't as small at the terrier and would sometime flip kitchen chairs trying to run under them as his little buddy had. A small dogs seems to keep the breed young.

I have 2 boxers they are sisters from different litters ( same mom and same dad). Boxers are better in sets of 2! I will be a boxer owner for life!

I have a 3 year-old Boxer and he gets along perfectly with my 4 year- old Rottweiler! They are really great dogs!

We got our daughter who is 4 years old a white boxer for Easter and we already had two female 6 year old dachsunds prior to bringing our boxer girl home. They have always got along wonderful. My blk/tan dachsund loves to play tug with our boxer. Our boxer is so strong she tugs the toy and the dachsund around the house. Our other dachsund likes to charge and chase our boxer. She nips at her and then turns around and chases the boxer around the yard. It is hilarious to watch. They have a huge rod iron dog bed that they all curl up and sleep together on, the boxer is so cute when she lays her head over top of the dachsunds. They just absolutely love each other.

My girlfriends family had 2 blue healers when i moved in with my two boxers and they absolutely love each other you cant get them apart

We have a 5 year old boxer and a 4 year old pug - they are the best of friends! Despite what you might think, the pug actually rules the roost - but only because the boxer lets her! :)

I have THREE Jack Russells and a boxer, all female. They get along great. The energy level is close and play is a GREAT thing for both breeds...

We have two boxers and a great dane/doberman mix, and they get along amazingly well. The dane mix is the baby of the group and thinks she is a boxer too.

I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD MALE BOSTON TERRIER AND RECENTLY BOUGHT A FEMALE BOXER. THEY GET ALONG GREAT AND I THINK THE BOSTON FORGETS HOW LITTLE HE IS COMPARED TO THE BOXER. COULDN'T HAVE MATCHED THEM MORE PERFECTLY!!!

You know what my boyfriend got my boxer a pug and she loved him they would roll around together and if they got separated they would wine and cry until they got back together we bought them a little pool for the summer and they would jump in it together they would sleep in my bed with me and my boyfriend and if one left the other one would wake up and wine till the other one came back in the room.

we got a 10 month old boxer . he is the greastest dog you could ever have for a child

i have to say two boxers are better then one if you get a smaller breed spannal size boxing can get rough playing boxer games is a boxer thing

When our boxer female (pretty dominant and aggressive) was 3 years old we rescued a full grown large (14 lb) abandoned cat - much to our surprise he has a laid back temperament and he and the goofy boxer are fast friends. They don't intrude on each others territories and get along just great. They follow each other around (both are so nosy they can't stand to not know what the other is doing), chase each other etc. Who would have thought?

we have two dogs a 21/2 year old female boxer and a one year old west highland terrier (male). despite the size difference the westie deffinatly has rule of the roost.they are best friends ane cant stand not being together.they love cuddling up together in there bed of on the sofa

the bullmastiv for a big dog and a wimeriner gets along with just about any thing

We got our boxer an american bulldog. They love each other, but unless you want your backyard to become part of the demolition derby, maybe not. LOL. A pug would be a good choice. Like the other responders Boston, but on the energy plane of the boxer.

I got my 2 year old boxer a Boston Terrier. It was love at first sight. My boxer is very loving, and although the little terrier is a lightning bold, she amuses the boxer no end and they spend a great deal of time kissing and rolling around, running and wrestling. They HATE to be seperated for any length of time.
