About the Chi-Chon
The Chi-Chon is a hybrid dog that is made up of a combination of two different purebreeds. It's a cross between the Bichon Frise and the Chihuahua. We've found the best method for understanding the characteristics of the Chi-Chon is to read both of its ancestors descriptions taking note of their temperaments, size and general look.

General Description
Chi-Chons hair is fairly long, slightly curly and very soft. They have very expressive eyes and the torso is elongated.
Character
Chi-Chons are very loveable and enjoy being around their owners. They love to play, but will also jump up on your lap for petting. Some can be shy around strangers. Most are not huge "barkers", but will not hesitate to if alarmed.
General Health
Chi-Chons are strong little dogs for their size. Can be prone to ear infections.
Maintenance
Chi-Chons require brushing every other day to prevent matting. There is no need to shave hair but trimming around the eyes is ok. The nails should be trimmed about every 6 weeks and they should be bathed at least every 4 weeks. Chi-Chons are very low shedding and hypo-allergenic.
Ideal Environment
Chi-Chons need their daily dose of exercise.....a walk and some play time with their owners. They need to release energy and should come down after they have exercised.
Dog Training! If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received. |
