About the Cock-A-Tzu

The Cock-A-Tzu is a hybrid dog that is made up of a combination of two different purebreeds. It's a cross between the Cocker Spaniel and the Shih Tzu. We've found the best method for understanding the characteristics of the Cock-A-Tzu is to read both of its ancestors descriptions taking note of their temperaments, size and general look.

*All hybrid content is user generated and edited by our staff. If you know a lot about the Cock-A-Tzu breed, please feel free to share what you know with our users. Please try to be as factual and well written as possible. Quality information will promote the growth of the breed.

This breed is loyal and loving. They are sometimes hyper but lounge around most of the time. They get a long with other dogs and children. They prefer a lot of attention and enjoy being near their owners. They are gentle giants and hardly ever bark, but if they do you can be assured it's for good reason. The Daniff is a large lap dog.

General Health

They are prone to frequent ear infections if ears are not cleaned regularly. This is due to the deep ear canal of the Cocker Spaniel and the hair that grows in the ears of Shih-Tzus. Groomer should pluck hair from ears to prevent infections. This breed may also suffer from allergies which can be treated by your veterinarian.

Maintenance

Cock-a-Tzus need regular brushing or trimmed hair. They are extremely light shedders and their hair will tangle and matt without proper care. They have active tear ducts and daily cleaning may be needed to keep their eyes clean.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com.  Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site.

Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
