History

The Cocker Spaniel can be found as far back as the 1400s. Once they were initiated into America, they were reduced in size and used for hunting and flushing out game - the Woodcock in particular. The Miniature Pinscher hales from Germany where the Italian Greyhound, Dachshund, and German Shorthaired Pinscher were crossed.

Maintenance

Very little grooming is needed with this short hair. They don\'t shed, so an occasional brushing with a good bristle brush will keep the coat in great condition. Rather than bathing which can strip the coat, just wipe down with a damp cloth as needed. Begin oral hygiene at a early age, they will relish the bonding time.

Ideal Environment

The Cockapin makes a great family pet. He is active and energetic and wants nothing more than to be close to his humans. So, since he can adapt well, apartment life will work fine, as long as he has regular outdoor walks and trips to the park. A fenced yard will help to burn off that energy, but he will want to be with you always. A bit stubborn, patience will be required when training.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
