I am interested in getting a CP to act as my service dog. I had spinal surgery in January that resulted in damage to my spinal cord. I use a walker now and I would like to get a dog that can assist me with balancing and help to brace me when I pass out from my low blood pressure. I've owned large breeds before, but I've never met a CP. We live in Gaithersburg Maryland, which is just north of Washington, DC. Is anyone out there a CP owner that would let me meet their dog???
My Morkie is going on 8 months. This evening after he had eaten a package of Pedigree soft food he became sick. Vomited all of what he had ate. Now is very listless, and is drooling quite a bit, had to put him on a towel because of his drooling. what could be causing this and should I be concerned??? thank you
My fiance's dog Clyde is 7 years old. He was abused as a puppy but rescued by Kenny at around 2 years old. Kenny spent a lot of time and effort training Clyde to be a good dog. Then, he moved to California and left the dog with his mother who preceeded to give Clyde house food and treat him like a baby (an actual human). Long story short, Clyde is now whining and seems to have anxiety. At night time, he will pace back and forth in our bedroom, dig on the carpet, circle about 7 to 8 times and then lay down making a very loud relaxing noise. He wakes me up every night. When Kenny is home and Clyde knows it and Kenny walks into the garage, Clyde immidietley starts to cry and whine. When we leave him outside with my 5 year old border collie/aussie mix Clyde howls and cries the whole time! He begs for food, does not go lay down. I am familiar with dogs and training and this dog is JUST OUT OF IT! Is there any ANY ANYthing ANYONE recommends I do for this dog to help him have a better less anxiety filled life. AND let me get a good night sleep (im 7 months pregnant btw :) Please help me out!!
Hi I have a 6lb. yorkie. I just noticed inside both of her ears there are black spots. I'm not sure if she always had them and I never noticed or if this is something new and I need to take her to the vet. Also any advise to get her to stop barking. When it is time for her to eat or go for a walk she keeps barking nonstop. thanks
My family and I are lucky enough to have had our beautiful St Bernard for the last 12 years. But she is having hip problems that we medicate with Gluosmonine and Chrondronite (spelling is off but close enough), she hasnt started walking into anything, but her eyes are cataracted, her hearing is all but gone, and she breathes so fast all the time now. But she is eating even more than she used too, drinking steady and can smell out her favorite meals I prepare in seconds!! But I guess my question is weighing out both pros and cons, when do we make the decision to stop her physical pain? What are the lifespans for St Bernards that have been healthy their entire lives? Her spark hasnt left emotionally at all, but I feel like she is pushing through to love and keep our family safe as she always has. Please help..I do not want to go back to the vet because we know what their answer will be. Opinions please??
I have our 18 month old male Chihuahua scheduled to be neutered and also receive his first rabbies shot at the same appointment. Is there a medical risk involved in doing both procedures at the same time? (I just adopted this little man from his initial owner who neglected to have his rabbies shots done at 6 months. We are responsible dog owners who generally follow our vets instructions, but am hearing conflicting information regarding my question).
hi my names jarrad i am from australia i have two labradors one male(2 1/2 years) one female(15 months) i purchased my bitch from a breeder with regestration(papers), and she was bred in a show dog envirioment. I am having concerns about her running around in circles(anti clockwise only!) when she is mainly excited, but not always. we have tried several things to stop her like going to behavioural dog trainers etc, but with no success. i really want to find a way of stopping this so she lives a full healthy life.i am mainly concerned for her well being and also we are planning pups for her later on. Obviously this would be wearing her muscles and joints unevenly and i know labradors are well known for bad hips and elbows. have you come across this before and is it just a bad habit or is it bad breeding. any info etc would be greatly appreciated.
my 18 month old male english mastiff is showing signs of aggresion toward small dogs and people.he will lunge at a person and jump up toward them with teeth showing and growling.he has just started this with in the last two months. hi, my morkie is black / tan and cream, more like the yorkie colour. her mum is the yorkie and her dad is the maltese. i have seen on the internet some lovely coloured morkies, some with lots of white in them, mostley the ones i see on the internet that have the lovely colours are in america. here in the united kingdom, the morkies tend to be more yorkie and teddy bear colour. i would like to breed my morkie and i am wondering if i put her to a maltese do you think i will get more white in the puppies coats. i am facinated how in america the morkies have these lovely colours. is it just putting morkie to morkie or morkie to maltese to get 3/4 maltese puppies. be gratefull for answeres please. thank you. jan.
Our dog is 19 months old. She had serious health issues when we first received her from our daughter. She went into comas twice but was brought out. We watched her constantly and had to give her sugar if she acted strange. The vet said she had hyper glossimia. She has been fine now since she was five months. She seems to be very healthy and active. Would it be safe for her to go through the surgery to be spayed she has been in twice now, and it is very light. Just do not want to take a chance of losing her.We our elderly and love her very much. Thank You Theresa
My chiweenie is only 11 wks. old and I have noticed she has small patches of what looks like hair loss. The patches seem to be around where she's scratching, top of head, a little on her shoulder area, and on her back. I bathe her every week using puppy shampoo. Is this normal in her bredline? I'm a little worried about it. Other than that, she's a very healthy dog, very well loved and taken care of! Spoiled is the best way to describe her!!

Hi, my name is Marcus, I'm 16. I recently got a pug. I have 2 other dogs, and 1 cat that belongs to me. I was looking to adopt a Shorkie in the future. I was wondering If a Shorkie would be a good dog to have. I do loves animals, I have always had a dog and a cat in my home. I love sports, but at the end of the day just like to hang with friends and family, go to the beach. Would a Shorkie be a good dog for me, because I'm looking for a dog like a pug. Who is lap dog I guess. Also how much would a Shorkie puppy cost, because I'll be looking to get a Shorkie if it is a dog I would like, and just want to get a price range. Thank you
