My Cocker Spaniel is constantly lickng, me, my other half, the carpet, the counch, the floor - anything he can get hold of. He has also been displaying strange behaviour such as looking at the ceiling and swinging his head around as if something is there and then half licking in fast succession (his own mouth/nose). Very strange. Vet wasn't sure..... Any help would be gratefully received!

sounds like an ear infection. You should take him to the vet to get checked

My cocker does the same thing except not the head turning. He just seems to be an overzealous licker. Oh and So sweet. Just seems to love licking .

It has nothing to do with an ear infection, as one person answered. Licking can be a nervous habit, a display of dominance and/or display of affection. Vet needs to look in his nose.
