(English Bulldog and Chinese Shar-Pei mix) The Bull-Pei is a well built sturdy dog with a head a bit large for its body. Expect the wrinkled skin of the Shar-Pei to be passed down from the parent breed. The coat will be short, but can be soft or stiff. Be aware of the stubborn nature that may be in this hybrid.
Agressive for strangers, very good guardian, nobody get in my garden when dog is there but he not bite anybody when I'm with him. He is agressive but not for kids, he like them.
The Bull-Pei may not do well around other pets or small children. They can have an aggressive nature from the Shar-Pei parent, but hopefully some of that has been tempered by the Bulldog. Early and continued socialization is a must for this hybrid. That being said, they typically are pretty easy going and love their family.
Both of the parent breeds began as farm dogs and were later used as fighting dogs. In time, the English Bulldog evolved to a more docile companion dog. The Shar-Pei retains its tendency towards a bit of an aggressive nature.
Because of the skin folds, special attention will need to be paid to ensure the skin is clean and dry. A medicated shampoo may be needed. Also, the face should be inspected and wiped down regularly. Regular brushing with a soft bristle brush is a good idea for shedding and distribution of the natural oils.
Neither of the parent breeds are a high energy dog, so likely the Bull-Pei will not require excessive exercising. As long as they can be close to their humans, an apartment or house with a yard will work. Barking isn\'t an issue either, but they do snore. Good training and socialization is needed. Extreme temperatures aren\'t tolerated well.
If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site.
