(Cairn Terrier and Miniature Schnauzer mix) The Carnauzer is a small to medium sized dog with a life expectency of 12-15 years. He will sport a rough water repellent coat in shades of white, brown, black, golden or cream.
add infoIf the Carnauzer takes after the Cairn Terrier, he won\'t do well if left alone. However the Schnauzer parent breed handles being alone very well. He is a playful and devoted pet. He will follow his owners everywhere. His nature is to be full of curiosity.
add infoHealth issues shouldn\'t be an issue, but possible problems that can be passed down from the parent breeds include Eye, Urinary Stones, Hypothyroidism, Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, Patellar Luxation and Liver problems.
add infoThe Cairn Terrier was introduced to America in 1913. Previously in the Scottish Highlands he hunted in the Cairns. The Schnauzer was used in Germany in the late 1900s to hunt vermin and as a guard dog.
add infoThe Carnauzer doesnt shed very much but will require brushing a few times per week. Bathe only as needed with a gentle shampoo designed for dogs. Keep the ear canal free of debris. Oral hygiene is important for the smaller breed canine.
add infoThis designer dog will do well in an apartment or home with a fenced yard. He does require some exercise, so regular walks will be needed, especially if he is an apartment dweller. He may bark a bit, but not obsessively. Give him plenty of toys to stimulate his mind. He will make a great family pet.
