I have a 7 month old Great Dane. I got her when she was 3 months old. She has never been abused. The problem that I am having is she is scared of other people. It took her a month before she would let my roomate touch her. Anytime she meets some one new she will just bark at them. If they get to close to her, she runs away and hided behind me. The only way she will let them pet her is if I am holding her by the collar. Once I let go she runs away. I have tried to have as many people as I can feed her treats, pet her, play with her, etc. With no luck. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my great dane when he was younger (about 6 months old), i took him to a trainer for attack training, he gained confidence afterwards and is actually doing fine now. note that you shouldn't be around that training though cause it might break your heart. :(

I don't know if this will help anyone else but I am the owner of the dog above. I have been taking her to dog parks where she can meet other people and other dogs. She is still a little shy but she is coming around.
