Yes , I am a past owner of a Silky and I also have a Yorkie. The difference is that the Silky is build stronger, and it has a breast bone in the front chest. My silk has floppy ears and has red hair on top of head, and my yorkie has blond, but she is older, when she was younger she had both red and blond with some strang of black. I found Charlie my silky on the streets, he would keep running away, he had a running streek. He ran 25 times in one year, these dog need to be trained right away. My yorkie stays by my side and does not run. I miss my Silky, he was 7 yrs and a lot of fun and not to be forgotten. It is very easy to mistake a silky for a Yorkie and vice versa. However silkies are larger, weighing in at 8-10 pounds. Yorkies are smaller at up to 7 pounds. Some Yorkie's don't follow standards and can weigh more. Silkies have metallic coats and a shorter compact body. The Yorkie tends to have a duller grey coat or rich black. The silky is more robust, while the yorkie is a much more timid dog. These are minor differences that can make a world of difference in distinguishing these breeds apart. It is very easy to mistake a silky for a Yorkie and vice versa.
