Character

The Cockinese may not be a good fit for a first time pet owner as their stubborn streak can make training quite difficult. They are fun loving and a bit independent. Bring them into a family with children as puppies.

History

The Pekingese was highly favored by the Chinese Imperial Family. The Cocker Spaniel began as a hunting dog and soon became a loving companion of many. This hybrid mix of Cocker Spaniel and Pekingese has created a loving and playful little hybrid that is full of spunk.

Maintenance

The Cockinese will shed and needs a regular amount of brushing, more or less depending on the type of coat he inherits. If he has the long silky coat you may consider taking him to the groomer to keep the coat in shape. Be sure the ears are thoroughly dry after bathing or swimming.

Ideal Environment

The Cockinese has a pretty high energy level, so runs in the park, or yard will be needed to help him burn of excess energy. He will be happiest with toys that stimulate him and help keep him occupied during these spurts of energy. But, he is a lap dog as well.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
