This is a very loyal breed that is gentle and loves to play. They have a mild temperament and get along with children and small animals, including cats. They love affection from their owners and bond well.

I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Height: 28" shoulder Length: 62" nose to tail. Med-long outercoat. Heavy undercoat (seasonally) silky coat. He was a very clean dog. He did not like excessive grooming because of sensitive skin. He did not like to roll in smelly things. Bounder smelled nice except if always wet with salt water. Not a garbage hound. Not a big or glutenous eater. Did not drool except during very active play. Big drinker but not messy. Sensitive expressive ears, succeptible to fungus. Easily trained, eager to please. Obedient with the ocassioal "look". He preferred stick to ball. Excellent distance swimming companion. Would make excellent water rescue dog. Likes to pull.
He loved winter. Bounder was trained to run on a snowshoe track while I skiied beside in a track attached to his harness with a retractable lead. He even pulled us on snowboards on woods trails and could pull a loaded toboggan. He also used saddlebags on camping/hiking trips. Do not overload.
Bounder was a very social dog. Loves meeting people and dogs. He was off-leash trained but excellent on-lead. He walked away from a fight. Non aggressive. Loved to play. Very expressive body language. Large vocabulary used only when necessary. Good guard dog. Good with cats. Good with chickens. Chased squirrels.
No hip or elbow problems. Good teeth and gums. Died of spleen cancer.

Yogi is an awesome dog. He is about 130 lbs. He is smaller than a typical newf male, but bigger than a golden. He is very sweet, but thinks he's small, so he leans and jumps (we're still working on that) He gets along really well with all other animals and with all people. (We also have another dog and two cats)
(He came from a Newfoundland breeder who had an accidental litter by her female golden retriever and her Newfie stud.)
