Character

Labloodhounds are known to be friendly and generally love everyone they meet. They are curious and high energy so they should be watched carefully. Being both Bloodhound and Labrador they love to track and may take off for hours at a time. They are independent and very intelligent. With firm training and proper socialization they can be a great addition to your family.

Maintenance

Labloodhounds are fairly low maintenance dogs. With regular brushing, baths and a good diet they shed very little and have beautiful shiny coats. They are chewers and keep their teeth in good health. They have good metabolisms and stay nice and lean like a hound with sufficient exercise.

Ideal Environment

Labloodhounds need sufficient space to run around and burn off excess energy. They are great indoors and are content lying around but as soon as they are outdoors their instincts kick in and they want to track. They need plenty of chew toys to ensure they do not chew anything you do not want them to. A fenced in yard is ideal as they are prone to "following their noses". They are great around kids and other dogs but smaller animals can excite them (cats, squirrels and rabbits). They are very affectionate, loyal and need to be reminded how much they are loved.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
