Morkie Q&A

We are trying to find the right dog food for our morkie. We have tried several kinds that wont break our bank but Gizmo will go outside and eat grass constantly. Is this because of the foods we have given him or is he eating grass for something other than an upset stomach? What is the best food to give him?

I have a four year old Morkie - in the first year we had her it was all trial and error - none of the dog foods agreed with her, because most of them contained chicken. I started to cook food for her and noticed that everytime i gave her chicken, she threw up (coughing and then threw up). At first i thought that was strange so I removed it from her diet and she was fine and then tried giving her again and she became sick. Currently her diet is rice, beef, carrots and other vegetables which I cook for her everyday (well i cook every third day and freeze them in small containers). She is doing fine now food wise. We mix a few kibbles (lamb) with her meals sometimes for her teeth).

My morkie is always eating grass and I'm very worried about her. Can you tell me if this is a real problem? And what I can do to help her. Thank you very much

Well I have a 6 month old Morkie, it eats a whole lot of rubbish. He also eats grass, it gets the dogs tummy running. give it actual dog food, and actual dog meat with water and maybe it will be better. I also have a Maltese Female and they both act the exact same way.

I give my morkie royal caninn for the yorshire terrior, works well.

Allowing your companion to Eat grass could be risky exposing it to chemicals and the leptospirosis bacteria. Small breeds like this do not do well with food changes. Try Royal Canine puppy chow and stay with it. Feed three small meals per day and the results should be a pleasant surprise. I hope this answer is helpful :)

I too have a seven month old morkie. He is 11 lbs and is very smart. They are thick headed and will learn new tricks very fast if he wants to do the work. His name is Gismo and also eats grass when going out. Sorry your having trouble with food my Gismo gets Purina one and eats with no problem.

I feed my Morkle (Molly) Royal Canine as well. She loves it.

Just got our new Morkie puppy last week. My vet recommended Royal Canin small breed puppy food. Tillie loves it! She seems to Be doing very well with the gradual switch from her previous food. I ordered in on amazon -even better as it was delivered right to my door!

Our Morkie had pancreatitis twice, and got really sick. Since she was a puppy she alway had a stomachache after she ate. She is 7 and a half now and has not been sick for the last several years after we bought Science Diet low fat easy digestible food from the vet. We give her both the canned food (chicken stew) and dry. I wish we had given her this food when she was a pup! We are also very careful with the treats we give her. Dehydrated chicken treats are great. The only ingredient is chicken.
