I think it's an allergy. After 3 purebred Shar Pei and Ori Pei, I have become very familiar with skin problems. I got so tired of administering countless antibiotics and steroids so I did some research. These breeds are particularly sensitive to grains, and a high protien or all meat diet is recommended. I am now using AvoDerm Grain Free formula and the skin and ear problems have gone away. I don't use any treats with grains either. My dogs love dried sweet potato. I keep their diet very clean, simple and additive free. I hope this helps. |
