The Pekarin is a designer cross breed between the Pekingese and Cairn Terrier. These are both small dogs and weigh around 12 pounds and reach a height of around 10 inches. The Pekarin has a short to medium fur coat like that of the Cairn Terrier. The Pekarin is an intelligent dog which also has a stubborn side to it. It is this stubborn side which makes their training very difficult, but once properly trained, they become great family pets. They require a lot of love and attention from the family and always remain loyal. Their average life expectancy is 12-15 years.

Character

This breed is a playful and affectionate dog breed which makes for a good family pet, but one must not leave them alone with younger children. They share a lot of similarities with their parents, such as being stubborn, excessive barking at times, and being intelligent. The dog is not quite fond of children or other dogs. They are even wary of strangers. The Pekarin breed is a curious one when it comes to learning tricks. They do not respond to harsh voice tones and will do almost anything when spoken to with love. It is advised to get them trained and socialized at an early age.

Ideal Environment

The ideal environment of a Pekarin is totally dependent on which parental genes does the dog inherit the most, because on one hand whereas the Cairn Terrier requires a lot of exercise, but the Pekingese does not need a lot of exercise but in turn, likes to be pampered. But the minimum exercise which a Pekarin will need is a daily walk and also some playing. In case they do not get enough exercise, there can be behavioral changes. These dogs do not like the heat, so it is best to walk them in the morning or late evening, they, however, are able to adapt even to the apartment style lifestyle provided they are taken out for the minimum exercise.
