Peke-A-Poo Q&A

A year after losing my beloved four legged family member, I have decided to once again bring joy to my home in the form of a Peek-A-Poo. My Maggie was almost 16 years of age at the time of her death. Her mother was a purebred Pekingese, and her father was a purebred Toy Poodle. I’m interested in a little guy who is listed as a Peek-A-Poo however his Mother and Father are both Peek-A-Poos. What are your thoughts on this? Should I be concerned about any health issues? Is breeding two Peek-A-Poos an issue? Your time, consideration and response is greatly appreciated.

From what I understand, the breeding of 2 hybrid dogs does not always produce puppies that will look like the hybrid. While I have not heard of any specific health concerns this may cause, you may end up with a dog that looks more like the Pekingese or the Poodle than a mixture of the two. The most important thing to consider is the actual health of the pup's parents and how it was raised as a puppy. The best pet will have parents with no genetic health problems and be raised in the home as part of a family. BEst of luck!
