My 5 year old male husky makes nightly trips outside to go to urinate. I have trained him to come to me or the back door and bark to go out. He does this well, but I want him to not go out after 11 pm at night. He will wake me up at 2, 3. 4, or 5 in the morning. Usually it is once, but sometimes twice. Once he goes out he will start to hunt. To stop this and get him back in quickly, I give him a treat. If I lock the door and leave him out, he will cry and howl at my window--not good for the neighbors. He will stop, he will lie down next to the window on command. However, he will not stay there until morning (6 am). This is why I trained him to come back in quickly for a treat---I want to go back to bed. I feel like I have a baby in the house again. When I had the older dog with him, who slept through the night it was not a problem. As the older dog had night problems (needing to go out-accidents, etc, before passing away), this routine of going out one or two times a night started. How do I change this? Karen
