He does not want to be picked up while he is sleeping, maybe? Nothing is wrong with the dog. Typically humans and animals alike like their sleep... Do you like to be picked up when you are trying to sleep? :).

Have you checked to see if he has any injuries or tender spots? They can sometimes be defensive if touching or picking them up them may cause them pain.

Nothing, that's what ours does. They are a bit moody. You get used to it.

shorkies will play for about 10 to 15 min then they do like a nap. they do not need alot of excercise that is what makes them a great inside breed. i live in texas and our shorkie also does nmot like the hot weather. they do like a little inside play and they like to nap or will just lay down and watch you they are so so sweet

He's trying to show you who's boss. Granted if he's resting you should let him rest but you still should be able to pick him up or touch him when you want. Now is the time to let him know that growling and biting is NOT acceptable. If you let him away with it when he gets older he could bite someone.
