While the Shih-Tzu is an ancient dog from China, it was bred for several years in secrecy until brought to England. Soon it became popular in the US, and the American Kennel Club recognized it in the year 1969. Today, it is among the top 20 breeds.
add infoThe straight coat is normally dense and hence requires daily brushing to remove tangles and dead skin. You can give them a bathe every once in a month or as needed. Skip-Shzus are prone to dental genetic problems, therefore brush their teeth atleast three times a week to prevent any periodontal disease. Also, keep a check on ears by cleaning them with a wet cotton bud or cloth to prevent any infection or injury and don’t forget to clip their nails or else get it done with a professional groomer.
add infoThe Skip-shzu is energetic, although it does not require any vigorous exercises because of its small built. Allow them to engage in activities that require both physical and mental growth to stay healthy and pleased. Though they can alone gain their activity needs through indoor games, it is best to expose them with the outside surroundings as well. You can take them to a short walk, or beach and dedicate some of your quality time as they love a day out with their owners.
