hi there :) im so sorry for u.... from what I can see to me your puppy looks like a shichon... ( He's adorable! ) Even though your other friends have shih tzus and they look like Mugsy that doesn't mean that mugsy is a pure bred.... The puppy gets its looks from its parents. You have to remember that a shihchon is in fact par shih tzu so it may just be that he got more of his mom or more of his dads looks. You may also be able o determine his from your breeder. Think about it. Did you get a health guarentee? Did she tell you to take him to the vet within 72 hours of getting him? Was she happy to answer your questions? And did she talk to you about his parents? These are some of the things a good breeder should do. If your breeder didn't do these things than he may have given you a pure bred.. The obvious difference is with the tail. The Shi tzu tail appears more fuller than the Shichon. The same with the Bichon. Also the muzzle is a little different as well not as distinct as the Shi tzu. I have to tell you that there are many many looks to this breed... I have an idea for you I hope you have facebook.. and go look at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1592387857649789/ and you will see that they all have different looks .. my girl looks just like a Bichon my boy you would swear is a pure bread Shih tzu.. they are both shichons.. Your Mugsy looks a lot like our Shichon, and yes, at 16 weeks he was about 10 pounds, and frankly HUGE for what we thought he would be. He wound up about 22 pounds at full growth. I haven't measured his chest, but he wears a Medium harness in most brands. hello there i have owned and bred shih tzu for 45 years yes he is a shiddy and you can throw long nose and curly hair,and i have had 1 litter of bichon frise and my shih tzu my sister was away on holiday and i was looking after cindy i did not know she was in season and my black shih tzu mated with her i did not own up after 6 weeks she let me know she was putting cindy ona diet i owned up and she had 4 pups all gold white i was happy for i knew my black boy carried gold white anyway my sister tells everyone her cindy was raped on holiday hope this helps from tangledwebb shih tzu from bonnie scotland |
