Character

Alaskan Klee Kais make good companions, but they are a comparatively high-maintenance breed. They bark a lot, shed, and are hyper. If trained appropriately and sufficiently exercised, the breed will settle down and become a wonderful family pet. They are docile, extremely loving, and have a cheerful disposition.

Alaskan Klee Kais are a very high energy breed and will not be for everyone. A large amount of time and energy are needed for this breed in order to keep the dog properly exercised and trained. This dog is not recommended for first-time dog owners. Due to their natural reserved/cautious behavior around strangers, the Alaskan Klee Kai make good watch dogs. Because of there skittish personally, early on constant socialization is highly recommended.

Alaskan Klee Kais originate in the United States. They are a rapidly growing breed of companion dogs that were developed in the 1970’s. They are descendants of the Alaskan and Siberian Husky breeds.

The Alaskan Klee Kai Breed was started in Wasilla, Alaska by a women named Linda S. Spurlin. In the mid 1970's Linda acquired a 17 pound Gray and White female husky. Through trial and error she duplicated this small breed through several variety's of smaller breeds including some Siberian and of course, the Alaskan Husky.

If they don't get proper daily exercise, this breed can easily get frustrated which will cause problems in the future. 90 minutes a day of exercise is recommended.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
