add infoThe American Alsatian comes from the United States and was originally bred as a companion dog. Its origins date back to 1987. The American Alsatian was also previously known as the North American Shepalute and subsequently the Alsatian Shepalute. The advent of the dual income family prompted a need for a large breed of dog without working traits. The mellow and calm temperament of the American Alsatian allows it to be best suited for work as a therapy dog.

add info1987 was the first documented siting of this pure breed. It has previously been known as; North American Shepalute, Alsatian Shepalute, and now the American Alsatian. They were cross bred to create a dog with even temperament and stability, bringing them to the current status as pure bred.
add infoRegular brushing is required as they have a dense double coat. It is thinner in the summer months, so shedding does occur.
add infoThe American Alsatian was bred as a companion breed but should always be properly exercised. Most owners choose to walk this breed at least an hour a day. Without exercise, the American Alsatian will become hyper active and possibly descriptive.
The American Alsatian can live in apartment with the proper exersise.
