The Canis Panther is a very sensitive and loving animal to its family pack. They are very intelligent, easy to train and extremely loyal. They excel in obedience, agility and personal protection. They are very good guard dogs. They are very defensive of their territory. He should be well socialized, preferably when young with both dogs and people, especially with children, as the breed tends to be naturally wary of strangers, though he is very friendly with those he knows. In order to successfully keep a Canis Panther the family must achieve a pack leader status. It is a natural instinct for a dog to have an order in their pack. When we humans live with dogs, we become their pack. The entire pack cooperates under a single leader. Lines are clearly defined and rules are set. Because a dog communicates his displeasure with growling and eventually biting, all other humans MUST be higher up in the order than the dog. The humans must be the ones making the decisions, not the dogs. That is the only way your relationship with your dog can be a complete success.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.

How do these dogs do in hot, dry climates? Do they shed?

They do shed a little bit year round, increasing a bit a couple of times a year. Their hair is very short, but you will want to buy more lint rollers for clothes.

Are canis panthers good with kids under 5 years old.

My female loves children. In fact, she is very protective of them, even children she hasn't met. For instance, at a park, watching from afar, a father pretending to 'get' ("I'm going to get you, rrraaghhh") a young child while playing, my CP becomes very concerned, may even bark and try to go over to the father.

Are these dogs friendly with other dogs?

My Canis Panther is friendly with animals she is familiar with, other animals that bark at her , she just ingnors.

I currenlty live in northern Colorado and have been looking very hard to find a Canis Panther breeder. I do not mind flying or driving to another state if I have to. If anyone has any contact information of a breeder I would greatly appreciate it!

Not many breeders available. Bought my Canis Panther from Rock of Ages Kennel, IL.

I am interested in getting a CP to act as my service dog. I had spinal surgery in January that resulted in damage to my spinal cord. I use a walker now and I would like to get a dog that can assist me with balancing and help to brace me when I pass out from my low blood pressure. I've owned large breeds before, but I've never met a CP. We live in Gaithersburg Maryland, which is just north of Washington, DC. Is anyone out there a CP owner that would let me meet their dog???

IM GLAD I LOOKED TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON THIS WEBSITE,I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!!!! I HAVE THE ACTUAL CONTACT ON THE MOTHERLAND OF THE GREAT CANIS PANTHERS. ANY INFORMATION REGARDING A PANTHER,PLEASE CONTACT[ TIMOTHY JONES 773-842-8308 ] THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!

i am loooking for an owner of a Canis Panther ,to tell me his expierence with the breed. Perferably someone who has had one for at least 5 years. I am very interested ,,i would just like to get an honest opinion. I have spoken with Rock of Ages Kennel ,,very nice lady and very intelligent about her breed. but i would like someone who is a personal owner.

I'm had a CP for 11 years, bought him from Rock of Ages. Theses are large powerful dogs that need training. He took to training both obedience and personnel protection training quickly. Very smart breed and affectionate. They are not submissive and will need to be out and around other people and dogs experiences. My CP never barked just to bark, there was always someone around. You will definitely know when someone is too close or the CP is agitated. My CP was male and 130lbs. It's an amazing breed with Training and exercise being the key.
