German Shorthaired Pointer Q&A

My Dad was unable to keep his Cocker. She is 4 years old and the sweetest thing ever. She has been with our family for a week. I take her on several walks a day. Last night I noticed she peed on the this rug I had in the family room. I removed rug cleaned area etc. Today she went in the same spot. I called my Dad he said she has never went in the house. Could this be seperation issues? What do I do? We already love her and I really need a solution to this.

Sometimes they pee in the same spot if they smell pee..what is clean to you and I , the super smellers will find! So, Clean 3-4 times, is what I have always done. Sometimes, they will still smell it . in which case I go back to paper or crate training! good luck!

Well, if you've had her a week, and she has only peed in the house twice -- she's doing good! She may be marking her territory (yes, girl dogs do this, too -- not just boy dogs). Get some "Nature's Miracle" from PetSmart, PetCo, WalMart, or other pet dept., and clean the area well so the smell is gone -- just because you can't smell it, doesn't mean that she can't -- their sniffers are much better than ours.
