They say there is no such thing as a silly question... but this might be one: My son has allergies to dogs and I know the lagotto is a good option. I have met a couple and love everything I read and see about them. The cost of these beautiful dogs is sooooo high (as I am sure you know), and it is just not in our range. Are there any tips/suggestions for getting at a lower price if we just want the dog as a pet.

Maybe check on a Labradoodle instead? I think that you can find them for under $1000. They are know to be low shedding/lower allergy dogs, and are great with kids. I currently own one, and she looks very similar to the lagotto. I have owned dogs all my life, many different breeds and all wonderful dogs...but I can honestly say that this labradoodle is the most "joyful" dog I have ever met. She just loves everyone, and every day is a celebration. She makes me laugh! Good luck, I hope you find a wonderful dog for your family!
