We are considering a Maltese puppy and doing a lot or research before bringing one into our home. We have 3 cats that are part of our family and have multiple litter boxes around our condo. Friends tell us Dogs have a taste for their cats (poop) and will forage their litter boxes (ewwwhh). Has anyone found this to be an issue with the Maltese breed or is this a standard dog behavior or not a problem at all? Thanks for the replies.

We've had several inside dogs and cats. All of our dogs loved to eat out of the little box. Put the litter box in an area that can be closed off with a baby gate. Show the cat where the litter box is. The cat can get to it, but the dog can't. Solves the problems everytime. Hope this helps.
