I have our 18 month old male Chihuahua scheduled to be neutered and also receive his first rabbies shot at the same appointment. Is there a medical risk involved in doing both procedures at the same time? (I just adopted this little man from his initial owner who neglected to have his rabbies shots done at 6 months. We are responsible dog owners who generally follow our vets instructions, but am hearing conflicting information regarding my question).

As far as I know, this is common practice and does not traumatize the dog by bringing them in for multiple appointments and "ouch!" needle pokes. My little girl got a set of immunizations, some teeth cleaned and removed and was spayed at the same time. She came out of it fine and is doing well today.
