Mastiff Q&A

I have a new female mastiff puppy born on Sept 27th, 2008. I was wondering if there is any truth to their growth being stunted if fixed too early and when the proper time is to get her fixed as my vet said most get them fixed with their last shots(her last shots as scheduled for the middle of this coming Feb.)

my male mastiff was also born on sept 27, 08, bought from islands west mastiffs ladysmith. i was just told by my vet that when you neuder or spade it acctually make s them grow bigger. it also stops any chance of them getting ovarian or testicular cancer.

To go with the last answer on this, my vet who has a couple Great Danes said to wait till 1.5 to 2 years to get my male English Mastiff fixed becuase, his head will get very large during that time. So I am not really sure getting them fixed early makes them larger, but if your dog is marking around the house and or starting to become unrully then its time to get him or her fixed.
