Our 9 year old Sheltie just died and he was vomitting too, then died in a day. He seemed fine before this. The vet found his liver was enlarged. If we think back he was showing signs for awhile that something was wrong, refusing to eat sometimes, vomitting occasionally, and less active. This the first dog we have ever had so had no idea that he might be showing signs that he was seriously ill. We have 2 other Shelties, so will be sure to look for these signs. I hope you find out what is wrong with your dog. I hope this helps you.

my sheltie does this off and on. The vet told me to give her an acid reducer (HUMAN MEDICINE) one pill a day. After 2 or 3 days she gets better.

Hi. My 12 1/2 year old sheltie died recently and was vomiting up bile for nearly two days after behaving totally normally. Eating his bone, etc. he really slowed down the last few month and no longer wanted to be left outside which was his favorite place. He vomited up just a little bit of clear bile all night every few hours and when I was taking him in to get iv fluids, he slipped into a coma and died hours later at the vet's office. Suspected liver cancer the vet as he had dark brown foul smelling/diarrhea that smelled of liver just before he slipped into his coma. RIP Reilly.
