That will depend on how well trained and well socialized both akitas are, as well as on their temperaments. I have a "mellow" male akita aged four years and have worked hard to make sure he is both socialized and trained. I can require him to behave civilly with any dog, unless the other dog is aggressive. But personality also plays a part in akita relationships. He only likes the dogs he likes. That's a much smaller number than the dogs he's prepared to share space with for a short time. Both were spayed females. We always had to keep them apart because my akita hated all dogs, especially ones that came into "her" home. Eventually, the new roommate had to relocate with her dog. I would never try it. |
