I white Akita can and will develop some shading over time. The white gene is a dilution gene, that dilutes the dog's natural coloring but some of that coloring still shows through, usually over the hackles, tips of ears, and maybe around the whiskers. If it is a full patch, like a pinto, then you are fine if it is an American Akita but that is a serious disqualifying fault for a Japanese Akita and means the dog was probably crossbred to American lines.
