Standard Poodle Q&A

Just wondering how this breed became registered as a purebred when the origin and history of one of the dogs is unknown?....I mean was it an anatolian mastiff or a anatolian shepard?...two completely different dogs, forgive me for saying this but it sounds like some backyard breeding, because a responsible breeder would know exactly the history and pedegree of his animals before he bred them, they would also know if they used an anatolian mastiff or a shepard.

The American Mastiff was recognized as pure breed registered through the Continental Kennel Club. Also your concerns Anatolian Mastiff or Anatolian Shepherd, is in fact Anatolian Mastiff. The original stock used in the development of the breed came from England brought over by the breed founder. You will find not back yard breeders with this breed.
