Everything I have read about wheatens say they are hypoalergenic. I had a wheaten mixed with cocker. He was very good with children. Loved to lay next to and "watch over" babies. My family just got a Wheaten and both my daughter ( age 6)and I are allergic to dogs. We have had no reactions. I suggest you spend time with a wheaten, but I consider him hypoallergenic. My son couldn't walk into a house with a dog without breaking into hives. When he was ten I took him to a friends house that had two wheatens. We played outside with the dogs for a few months so I could monitor his reactions. The only reaction were small hives where the dogs licked him. We washed immediately. We've had our Wheaten now for 6 years with no problems with allergies. We do take him to the groomers every 6 to 8 weeks. Good Luck. It was the best thing we ever did. |
