I HAVE A TWO AND A HALF YEAR OLD DANE AND HE IS CONSTANTLY CHEWING HIS TAIL TO THE POINT OF MASSIVE BLEEDING. ALSO HIS EARS AREN'T CUT AND THEY DEVELOPE SOARS ON THE TIPS AND ALSO BLEED OUT OF CONTROL. CAN HIS TAIL AND EARS STILL BE CUT? IF NOT IS THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I have a Dane who constantly licks his one foot. The vet said this is a nervous habit and a comfort thing. (She compared it to a human who practices cutting.) She said to stop him anytime I see the behavior to break the habit. It is working. His foot no longer has the raw spot that it once had. Maybe this could help with the tail part. Don't know what to tell you about his ears.

As for the chewing on the tail there is a spray at pet stores called I think Yuck Yuck. the spay won't cause anything it just has a bad taste to it. spray it on the tail and that might help. As for the ears I don't think you can get them done so late. My dane use to split his ears because he would shake his head next to things and boom. Blood every where. Sorry I can't help with the ears.
