Yorkshire Terrier Q&A

I have an 9 month old femaie Great Dane puppy. She weights 109 lbs and is lean and beutifully muscular. I was wondering if this is a normal weight or is my dog particully large for her age. She is supposedly the great neice of the "Largest Dog in the World", Gibson the harlequin Great Dane who just passed away. Also, I was reading some nutrition information on your website about a homemade diet adding years to a Great Dane's life. I was wondering how to do this. Do you have any reciepes? And, exactly how much should I be feeding my dog. Right now she gets 3 1/2 cups of food twice/day.

sounds a little small for 9 mo. maybe a slow grower. i have 4 on a total raw diet and it has done wonders for them. you feed 2% of adult body weight per day for you probably 3lbs a day. this being 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% organ. dogster has a great forum for raw diet if you need further help. best of luck!

I have an 11 month old male that is 126 lbs, so I don't think your dog is overly large. A female will always be smaller than a male, though. They should be lean and muscular. Sounds like your dog is the right weight for her.
