The Bully Basset has a wonderful temperament. It loves children, toys and attention. It is known to interact well with other dogs and generally loves to play. The Bully Basset inherits a lot of characteristics from the Bulldog. It is a light barker unless a perceived intruder is close.

History


The Basset Hound was introduced to England in 1874. The Bulldog may be a descendant of the Mastiff. These dogs (Bulldog) were originally used in England for Bull Baiting. They have been bred into a much more docile companion breed through the years.

Maintenance


The Bully Basset requires its ears be cleaned weekly. The anal glands also need to be frequently expressed to prevent backup or infection. This affliction is very common in Bulldogs.

Ideal Environment


The Bull Basset is acclimated for apartment living as long as frequent leash walks are provided. It is also comfortable in a large house with a yard. Daily walks are required to provide exercise and prevent behavior problems.
