The Doxles temperament is very friendly and loving. They make a great family dog and are good with small children. The Doxle is full of energy and should get a good walk at least once a day. Playing fetch in the yard is also good. Doxles are very nosey and love to smell everything. They do have a tendency to dig due to their Dachshund heritage. A Doxle will do fine in both an apartment or large a property, as long as the apartment dwelling dog got plenty of exercise and play time outside. Doxles are good with other dogs and strangers. They do need to be socialized regularly to fulfill there never ending curiosity and need to play. Overall the Doxle is a very sweet and loyal companion.
The Doxle is very low maintenance with only a weekly brushing with a damp cloth and a bath every 2-4 weeks (depending on how much time they spend outside). The Doxle should have its teeth brushed once a week.

this lil girl was found with eight of her littermates on the side of the road. an animal enthusiast took her in for about two/three months and found a great home for Shailo- with us.
she is energetic, eager to please, responds well to affection and/or food during training. she is constantly following her nose but after only a week with us, she knows to stop and wait when we tell her to. we hope to, eventually find little use for a leash while walking her in familiar settings.
she is friendly to a fault when other dogs and people are involved, always eager to investigate, smell and lick anything in her vicinity. she thinks she's hungry all the time. but is easily distracted from her conquests.
she took to fetch, tug of war and chew toys aptly and without hesitation.
she loves to cuddle, sleep and is very watchful of who may enter her pack's den.
all in all, she is adorable and we're thoroughly pleased with her thus far.
