The Tamaskan Dog is a cheerful wolf-like breed. Their round heads are tipped with long muzzles and with triangular, straight ears which resembled those of a Siberian Husky. The breed’s piercing eyes are either yellow or brown. Their compact, strong bodies end in thin, muscular legs and surprisingly small paws. At the back of their bodies is a fluffy tail resembling the tail of an Alaskan Malamute, however, their tail does not curl up on their back. Covering the breed’s body is a thick and fluffy coat very much like the coats of most Arctic breeds. Tamaskan Dogs come in either red and gray or just gray.

add infoThe Tamaskan Dog comes from Finland. In the 1980s, many arctic breeds, such as Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies, and German Shepherds, were mixed with a type of Husky-esque dog who was being imported in the U. S. The breed was started to create an intelligent and hard working dog which would be good at sled racing. The Tamaskan Dog was the result of this careful, successful breeding. In recent years, the breed has become more known in parts of Europe and the United States.
The Tamaskan originated from Wolves and Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs.
add infoTamaskan Dogs are a great breed if an owner wants few grooming responsibilities. The dogs should be brushed once a week. They also go through molting and may need to be brushed more often at those times. They are an active breed since they are used for sled racing and need sufficient exercise. To release the energy they have, this dog needs to be walked and should be allowed to run off-leash at least once a day. They should also play games and activities that keep their intelligent mind working and out of trouble.
add infoThe Tamaskan Dog should be in an active, fun home. They are wonderful with children and also do great with other dogs because of their pack mentality. The breed needs lots of exercise, but they can release their energy in a yard where they can run freely. They do not do well in apartments for this reason. The breed prefers cooler climates because of their Arctic origin. Tamaskan Dogs should be kept busy mentally because they are smart and can become easily bored. When they become bored, they will often be destructive so they need a family committed to keeping them mentally stimulated and active.
The Tamaskan Dog can sometimes be stubborn, but very trainable.
